“Fierrabras”?
Is that a heartrending drama about a woman who mistakenly laundered her foundation garments in caustic detergent?
Those would be “Fire-Bras” indeed.
The most egregious “Triple-Dip” in my opinion is the de-evolution of Rick James’ “Super Freak” morphing into M.C. Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This” finally degenerating into The New Kids On The Block’s “The Right Stuff”.
Duh...I can play all three of ‘em on the bass at the same time! LOL.
“Fierrabras” was one of Charlemagne’s sons. The opera has some good music, but the dialogue is the kind of stuff that Gilbert & Sullivan made fun of. To stage it today, you’d need the team of Katz & Huyck, who wrote “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, to create new dialogue. Schubert thought he was writing a dramatic opera, but he was actually writing a high adventure comedy.
Hey...you gave me an idea!
A New Opera of...
“Raiders of the Lost Ark”!
Too bad Wagner is not alive. He could write some great leit motifs for the nazis (ducks LOL>>>)
I know. I’m very very bad and just broke Godwin’s law. hehehe
John Williams already wrote a lot of that music.
So who will we get for the libretto? LOL
The third segment of the Boston Pops concerts were, for a while, the “John Williams Movie Music Festival”.
G’Afternoon Prof
Home sick today.
No farming for me until I feel a bit better.
I probably have a couple of yard long cukes.
Why mess with success?
Mix those cukes with heirloom tomatoes, Vidalia onions, avocado, top it with some fresh basil, add some extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Great salad!
Sounds good to me!
Now, would Indiana Jones be a tenor or a baritone? Who should sing the role? (This is fun! ):-)
Tenor. Sullah would be the baritone, as would be the Nazis, except for the creepy character who looks like Peter Lorre. He should be a very high tenor. I’m not sure whom to cast.
The guy with the little round glasses? Definitely a high tenor. I agree.
With a big mixed chorus of Arabs, Egyptians, Nazis, and pretty girls from somewhere, maybe the Steppes of Central Asia! (In the first act!)
We’ll have to do the Female Being coming out of the Ark as a Wagnerian chorus with hints of Berlioz. Something spectacularly sinister turning into a miracle.
For the one scene in the Steppes of Central Asia, something along these lines would be nice....

Ah Yes...I knew we would get something Wagnerian in there!
(Something akin to Brunhilde’s Big immolation scene, only it’s the Nazis who get Immolated!)
Or the Dies Irae from Verdi Requiem.
Also Quite scary!
:-)
