Obama Suggests Only Lawyers Understand the Constitution July 29, 2013 - 2:28 PM By Elizabeth Harrington
(CNSNews.com) --President Obama suggested in an interview with the New York Times that was published on Saturday that you need to be a lawyer to understand the U.S. Constitution.
The president made the suggestion when talking about members of Congress who have argued he does not have the constitutional authority to unilaterally suspend enforcement of parts of the Obamacare law.
The Times asked Obama if he consulted with his lawyer when making the decision to suspend the employer mandate, which would require businesses with more than 50 employees to buy them health insurance, and which was supposed to take effect on Jan. 1, 2014.
[I]f you heard me on stage today, what I said was that I will seize any opportunity I can find to work with Congress to strengthen the middle class, improve their prospects, improve their security, Obama said.
And if Congress thinks that what Ive done is inappropriate or wrong in some fashion, theyre free to make that case, Obama added. But theres not an action that I take that you don't have some folks in Congress who say that I'm usurping my authority. Some of those folks think I usurp my authority by having the gall to win the presidency. And I don't think that's a secret.
But, ultimately, Im not concerned about their opinions--very few of them, by the way, are lawyers, much less constitutional lawyers, the president said.

Whole article via link: priceless!!
Read about the opinions of a "lecturer in law" (with university "tenure-TRACK" offered) vs. the opinions of a lawyer now in Congress who clerked for Supreme Court Justice Alito...LOL!
We could fill an encyclopedia many times over with everything Barry doesn’t know.
No need for a long, detailed list. He does not understand the entire document, start to finish. There, *that* didn't take long at all, now, did it?
the infowarrior
At the time of its writing. Yes. People were a lot more generally literate then, even though, or because, they weren't formally schooled.
He MIGHT understand it. He just doesn’t agree with it, and opposes the [Christian] values on which it is based.
This is from the “law professor” who publicly demonstrated that he did not understand Marbury v. Madison. But people keep telling me how smart he is. I’d like to see some proof.
His every word and action are aimed at destroying the rule of law.
Sounds more to me like he’s crowing and bragging about that pissant class he used to teach in Chicago. And daring the Congress to try and do something if they don’t like how he’s ruling us.
The Constitution was written at a low as possible level so that even the people with least education could understand it.
Can you imagine the hodgepodge of idiocy that would transpire, if today's politicians had to create the Constitution, if it did not already exist?
The Constitution and the federalist papers were written so the common farmer could understand it and support or reject it.
It’s not that it’s written at a higher level than the contemporary understanding allowed,
it’s just that their level of literacy was so much higher than now.
Bull poop Obie Won
The Constitution is pretty easy to understand
Good one.
Jackass.
I think obabma does not care what the constitution says since his constituency is effete elites and low information voters.
He had to play the race card, that's what "galls" me the most about this.
Once AGAIN obama is talking out his ass.
its just that their level of literacy was so much higher than now.
Act as a dictator now, and let them chase me around in federal court for the remainder of my administration.
Karl Marx is smiling in hell.
I could find fault with the argument that more people were literate back when the Constitution was written.
There were an awful lot of farm boys and common laborers who, stop me if I’m wrong here, never saw the inside of a classroom.
Public education (ahem) corrected a lot of that shortfall, though now the shortfall is back and bigger than ever, due to (ahem) public education. Kids today spend days learning about endangered species and social justice and less about the all-important 3Rs, so it might be a wash.
Bottom line — this is OUR Constitution, written for us and intended for us to understand. And we do. They choose not to, and that’s the rub.
