Pope Francis reached out to gays on Monday, saying he wouldn't judge priests for their sexual orientation in a remarkably open and wide-ranging news conference as he returned from his first foreign trip...
"If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?" Francis asked.
His predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, signed a document in 2005 that said men with deep-rooted homosexual tendencies should not be priests. Francis was much more conciliatory, saying gay clergymen should be forgiven and their sins forgotten.
Francis' remarks came Monday during a plane journey back to the Vatican from his first foreign trip in Brazil.
He was funny and candid during a news conference that lasted almost an hour and a half. He didn't dodge a single question, even thanking the journalist who raised allegations reported by an Italian newsmagazine that one of his trusted monsignors was involved in a scandalous gay tryst.

“”If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Francis asked. “
Wow! A Methodist/Presbyterian Pope!
The Church doesn’t recognize “homosexuals,” as popularly understood, but rather as people who are tempted toward acts of homosexuality, just as there exist people who are disposed toward alcoholism, etc.
There may be an equivocation here, then, since the pope and media are likely using the term in different senses.
I didn't say he could. Did you not read my post?
So, are you tellng me that no Pope ever has changed anything relating to faith and morals? Or are you saying this is a special thing that can't be changed?

The gay lobby
There is so much being written about the gay lobby. I havent met anyone in the Vatican yet who has gay written on their identity cards. There is a distinction between being gay, being this way inclined and lobbying. Lobbies are not good. If a gay person is in eager search of God, who am I to judge them? The Catholic Church teaches that gay people should not be discriminated against; they should be made to feel welcome. Being gay is not the problem, lobbying is the problem and this goes for any type of lobby, business lobbies, political lobbies and Masonic lobbies.
There you have it..being Gay is okay..you just can’t lobby.

Ah, it’s 4 pages of Q&A. Did you have a point?
I think we should wait for more clarification by the Pope. There’s something odd about this quote, I think.
Yeah, it’s the Vatican Insider. It’s okay to be Gay..just not lobby according to the Pope
That was my first thought. My second was, sodomy as well as evil are rising up everywhere on the earth and the Pope should take a stand.
It appears he stood and said, I wont judge the homo.
The full interview is a little more nuanced.
My take... a homosexual’s sins are just as forgivable as mine as a heterosexual.
He went on to compare being a member of a ‘gay lobby’ and being a member of a ‘Masonic lobby.’
Being a member of a Mason group calls for automatic excommunication.
But what if that person doesn't believe their homosexuality is a sin?
Thankfully Pope Benedict did a LOT of housecleaning.
Plus the number of priests who abuse is really very, very small. There are more in other professions who have been abusive.
that’s exactly what he did...of course, I understand him...in saying it’s not up to him to judge..it’s up to God.
but I am not Catholic..I can understand why catholics might be upset
To the MSM, this translates into "The Catholic Church changes views on homosexuality". In reality, nothing has changed. Fornication is still considered a sin ... gay or straight. That will never change. The key words in the pope's comment are "and he searches for the Lord and has good will". This sounds as if he's talking about repentant gays searching to do God's will instead of their own.
