The Obama administration is threatening to veto the 2014 defense authorization bill unless health care insurance premiums and co-pays are increased, Investor's Business Daily said Wednesday. The administration also wants to reduce the proposed 1.8 percent pay increase for military personnel.
According to the Army Times, the administration says the bill is "too generous with military pay" and not generous enough for civilian employees. The administration only wants to give service members a one percent raise.
"A 1.8 percent increase would keep pace [with] the average increase last year in private sector salaries, while the 1 percent raise would create a slight gap," the Army Times said. Obama's proposed increase would be the first raise in over a decade that failed to keep pace with the private sector, IBD said.
The administration has also proposed cost-cutting measures like increased Tricare health fees for military retirees.
Citing the Navy Times, IBD said Obama's proposal includes a freeze for 2014 for Medicare-eligible retirees in the Tricare for Life program.

All he has done is get them killed and forgotten (bumps in the Ben Ghazi road), with his cowardly Rules of Non-Engagement, lack of decent air support weapons (napalm), and piss-poor leadership at the JCS and Cabinet levels.
Only the stupidest of political parties would not make Obama veto this bill. So are the Repubs that stupid or not?

Shortchanging the military and veterans isn’t just an Obama thing, it’s standard Democrat playbook.
Or what Sarah did to Murkowski’s Governor jet. Sold it, said she could ride commercial air like any other citizen.
Yeah, it’s pretty well understood that he hates the military. Yet, I’m sure there are no shortage of morons-in-uniform who voted for him both times.
Obama hates our military. That’s why he wants it full of homosexuals and run by muslims.
