Honestly, I think it might be that the sense of self-preservation is what's holding them back: they do not want to be utterly cut off from their fellow soldier (or sailors, or marines, as the case may be), destroyed in spirit and reputation and, if they have a family, becoming a burden to them as they will incur a dishonorable discharge for so opposing their Supreme Commander.
It's the Big City mentality manifest in the ranks: they are all smashed together but, oh, so alone.

I mentioned SF, because they are the perfect warriors, they are the experts of hearts and minds and winning over a population, knowing and working within cultures.
SF is out to win the battles, and the war, and the peace, they use their minds.
While that GI should have escaped any damaging punishment, some noise should have been made on him, it should be made clear that those kind of actions are harmful to the mission.
Maybe they confessed to some atheist priests.

If y'all would realize that each "service" starts with US, the rest of it is mission, training.

This guy had a good reputation. I would bet that he took offense at Ubama's sodomization of the military and specifically the Marine Corps. In fact, I would bet the bulk of military changes in command over the past few years have something to do with Ubama and his faggots.

This Marine had a very good reputation.
For one thing- SF troops are not perfect warriors. Never were. The current bunch is about 10 sling loads away, from the original folks. This idealism has to stop. The SOCOM community is far away from your dreamy bs. The current azzholes, are getting their eyebrows waxed, in Fayetteville. Doing steroids, getting tatted and driving around with bumperstickers proclaiming their special status. Then, there are the facebook postings. Good grief, you flag wavers, have not a clue. I like you ansel12. Just had to let this out. Listening to the crap, I hear everyday, is maddening, to say the least.

I only mentioned SF and I only know them from a past era, but when it comes to "hearts and minds" what do you mean.
