The first mistake the president of the NAACP in Norfolk, Va., made was saying that Trayvon Martin had a shaky past.
Then Tristan Breaux admonished his membership to react logically, not racially to the verdict.
This happened just as the lawyers prepared their closing arguments in the trial of George Zimmerman for the killing of Trayvon. Zimmerman was acquitted over the weekend.
But the fury in response to the statements from Breaux started coming from Norfolk and around the country right away, and really hasnt stopped.
WAVY-TV news tracked down a local city councilman:
To the majority of the African-American community, I would find it offensive, said Norfolk City Councilman Paul Riddick.
The station reported: Tristan Breaux, 25, was sworn in as president of the Norfolk NAACP in January. He is the youngest president in the branchs history, but members of the organization are calling for him to step down.

I guess the truth is offensive to the national association of colored people. No surprise there really.
And he was only 17 with that criminal past.
I think he was looking for a house/medicine cabinet to break into when Zimmerman spotted him initially.
"What he want to burglary for? He was supposably had left that night...that day anyway. He don't know nobody there anyway. He don't even know his brother...his step-brother. His father...his father's girlfriend."
Thou doth protest too much, girlfriend. That is retarted, Sir.
The NAACP wants to put Trayvon on the same pedestal with Martin Luther King as some kind of symbol of the Civil Rights movement.
Trayvon Martin was at best a lost soul. He was not the victim of George Zimmerman. He was the victim of a culture that tolerates and encourages education failure and criminal activity and discourages a work ethic and moral leadership.
His journey from the innocent 12 year old in the football uniform that was used to portray Martin as an innocent “Child” and the pictures on his phone with the gold teeth giving the world the finger all the way to the night he walked down to the store to by two of the principle ingredients in a drug concoction known in his world as “Purple Drank” is a tragedy that should be laid at the feet of those so called “Black Leaders” who encourage these youths to strike out at the world and blame all their troubles on the idea that they only fail because white people don’t like the color of their skin.
When you add together the mixture of race baiting rabble rousers and cowardly white Republicans who shudder at the thought of blatant racists like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson suggesting that they are racists because they won’t prosecute an hispanic man with a Jewish name for Murder when the likes of a wanna-be gang member like Trayvon breaks his nose and tries to beat his brains out on a concrete sidewalk, you have a society that is wholly and totally dysfunctional.
If anyone deserves blame for Trayvon Martin’s fate (other than himself) it is the NAACP, which has long ago lost it’s own soul. It was started on the idea that all people should be judged on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin, but now stands for the proposition that a black person should be excused for their character defects because of the color of their skin and that white people are to blame for all their problems.
The liberal media plays the race card for the NAACP and Republican politicians cower in fear that the race card will somehow be dropped on their desk.
Rick Scott is a coward. He pulled out all the stops to try to get an INNOCENT man convicted of MURDER. He must have known there was no case against Zimmerman as Angela Corey and Bernie De La Rondia also knew. They needed a conviction to placate the black race baiters and to boost their own racial credentials.
This whole thing would have blown over more than a year ago if the wheels of justice had just been allowed to run their normal course. A Grand Jury would have refused to indict Zimmerman and the race baiters would have gone on a hunt for another white racist to pin all their failures on.
I believe that Rick Scott, Pam Bondi, Angela Corey and Bernie De La Ronda should all receive the punishment that they attempted to get the jury to give to George Zimmerman. They literally wanted to take George Zimmerman’s life away because they were too cowardly to stand up to a bunch of racial agitators who had nothing but emotion and no facts to back up their allegations that George Zimmerman stalked the “Innocent Child” Trayvon Martin and killed him BECAUSE he was black.
Send these clowns to prison for the next 30 years. They deserve it. They have effectively killed George Zimmerman for their own political gain. I can’t think of a worse crime. George Zimmerman’s life is over. He will have to change his name and appearance and probably find another country to live in because Republicans like Scott, Corey, Bondi and De La Riondi are all a bunch of gutless cowards with political aspirations that are more important to them than the lives of innocent men like George Zimmerman.
I thought that, too!
That guy gladly embraced a culture that is violent, anti establishment, anti authority, etc.
He made all the worst possible choices in his short life.
And I think he was one of those guys who was constantly spoiling for a confrontation with the establishment and with authority in what ever form or place he found it.
There is a whole culture like that, out there. No rational adult would associate with that element or want THEIR kid associating with THAT element... yet here they all are, bemoaning the inevitable end to just where all those kinds of stupid, immature and irresponsible life choices will take you!
Bravo, P-Marlowe!!
You nailed it!
I've seen West angry in dealing with that awful judge - he had good reason.
Nelson had sustained a pros. objection (for the millionth time!) and it looked like West threw his pencil on the podium.
He looked really disgusted - he had good reason for that, too!

Outstanding line, Uncle Chip
Outstanding Truth!
Even Serino , the Sanford Police officer said that Trayvon wasn't racially profiled,
it was Trayvon's manner of dress and his actions that drew Zimmerman's attention.
The DOJ conducted an intensive investigation with Zimmerman's neighbors ,acquaintances ,family and friends
and could find not one incident of racial epithets or the use of a racial slur.
Race was not a factor in this assault ; but questionable behavior was the sole motivator !
Trayvon’s parents were never married but apparantly he knew who his father was and had some type of relationship with him..
the 2 parents only lived a few blocks apart in Miami..
he was living with his Mom but he got suspended for tagging a door at his school (stolen jewellery and burgalary tools was found in his backpack but school rules overlooked that little item)
his Mom had kicked him out and sent him to his Dad...
Dad shipped him north 200 miles to the current girlfriend’s home in Sanford...
or he took him there ...
anyhoo thats how he got to Sanford...
Did he burglarize any homes there ???
Ther school turned the “found” jewellery over to the police but they just stored them and the theft investigator never knew they were in the police station all along..
It would be interesting to know if any of the 12 items came from a home close to the school...
so this is not a case of Happy Families...
this is a case of opportunists and Whats in it for me...
Only if a subordinate did it.
The ME would say "its not my job" and he had "confidence on" his staff to take such initiatives which he apparently never took the time to check.
Sounds like you can take the boy out of the 'hood, but you can't take the 'hood out of the boy.
His past was criminal!
He was caught in school with stolen items and burglary tools in a bag. The school preferred to "discipline" him through the school bureaucracy than let the city police investigate him. That way the school district could make the crime statistics of their students look better than it actually is. Had he been prosecuted, he would have been in juvenile dentention rather than walking the streets late at night in February 2012.
