O'Mara Unleashed: Says Trayvon Martin "Caught with the fruits of a burglary"
Monday, July 15, 2013 | Kristinn

Posted on 07/15/2013 10:31:36 AM PDT by kristinn

Mark O'Mara, lead defense attorney for George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting case is speaking freely about Martin's criminal background now that his client has been acquitted.

Appearing on CNN's Headline News channel Monday morning, O'Mara was asked if Zimmerman has regrets over targeting a boy walking home without any ill intent.

O'Mara mentioned that Martin was under the influence of marijuana and that he was spotted near a home that had recently been burglarized.

O'Mara went on to say that Martin had recently been "caught with the fruits of a burglary." A reference to the watch, jewelry and burglary tool found in Martin's backpack by school authorities several months before.

With that comment, O'Mara is serving notice to those who will pursue Zimmerman in civil court that the barriers to evidence in the criminal case of Martin's recent troubled history before his death will not pertain in civil court.

Details on stolen jewelry here.

Nope. I generally wore the bracelets and carried the screwdriver in my purse.

LOL

So what actually happened to the jewelry?????

The descriptions matched, great. But was the burglery victim ever called in and allowed to identify and reclaim them?

That’s a huge hole in the sequence of events ...

I’d call that serving notice. Excellent!

“It was a piece of an awning, I believe it was a piece of a window, piece of hardware basically. It looked like a slim jim,” said Serino. He explains that this tool is used to break into windows.

A "slim jim" is a tool used to unlock car doors. I grew up around body shops and salvage yards, and I've used one. We'd sometimes get insurance salvage or theft recoveries locked, and without the keys. You use a slim jim to slide down past the glass seal into the inside of the door and snag the actuator rod that locks and unlocks the door. It's very thin and flexible, and I'd think it would be worthless for prying open a house door or window.

It was ruled that GZ could not have known that Trayvon was a thug-in-training, so it could not be used to validate his judgment in following the burglary apprentice.

The jewelry was taken to the Police Department and labeled as lost. It wasn’t until I think last week the reporter or the paper who dug into the corruption at the Miami School cross referenced the jewelry with the B&E and notified the Police of the rightful owner.

It is my understanding that they are waiting on the Police to see if they will contact the crime victims to regain their property.

I hope MOM keeps “educating” the public with all the information that wasn’t ALLOWED in the trial.

Not sure it will make a difference to those with minds already set that this was a racially motivated killing.

Also O’Mara is letting the jury know about things that they didn’t see or hear.

To me to let them know that their verdict was correct , and that they would probably have been really sorry if they fell for the “ child/heart”
prosecution line.

Uh, no, it’s exactly what is used to turn the flip-latches used on most residential windows.

Does anybody else suspect the prosecution was attempting to throw the case with that inexplicable ‘*paid-for* skittles and tea’ comment? Are they trying to open the door for some local prosecutions? Why on earth did he say that, anyway? Was he expecting MOM to bring up theft in the close?

Uh, no, it’s exactly what is used to turn the flip-latches used on most residential windows.

You can do that with a credit card. You don't need a 16" piece of spring steel to reach a latch that's 1 1/2" away from the outside of the window.

Meanwhile the stolen jewelry from the burglary (PD111021-422483) was sitting on a shelf in the Property Room listed as (2011-11477 “found items) gathering dust.

Until we started digging, and the FOIA requests revealed not only the scheme, but the fact a victim was never made whole with the return of their items.

That is, until now.

Yesterday we contacted Detective Manresa,
(letter and more at: http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2013/05/01/m-dspd-cover-up-the-curious-case-of-trayvon-martins-backpack-with-stolen-jewelry-and-burglary-tool/)

The http://theconservativetreehouse.com is also a great source for Benghazi, they really are the go-to site in my opinion.

That wasn’t a reporter. It was the blogger at The Last Refuge. Sundance I believe.

So he was going to use the slim jim to steal a credit card.

Thanks! Do you know, In FL, how much B&E information is available to the public? Is there a publically avail police report with the address of the burglary? If so, why doesn’t someone just go knock on the door and say “you should check with the cops, they may have recovered your stuff”?

At this point I’m really wary of waiting on officials to make things happen, ESP if they’re to Zimmermans benefit.
