A man allegedly assaulted and robbed by six teens during a "boredom beating" in North College Hill has died.
Pat Mahaney, 46, passed away Friday at University of Cincinnati Medical Center a little less than a year after the vicious beating that caused him to suffer internal bleeding and put him in the hospital for four days.
Investigators determined the teens instigated the August 2012 attack because they were "bored" and looking for something to do.
North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust said the juveniles jumped Mahaney from behind, hit him in the head and knocked him to the ground with a six-pack of beer he had just purchased.
"As they were approaching the individual they actually discussed this event, before actually doing the event," Foust said.

In the linked article, it said the victim was “so traumatized nearly a year later, he wouldn’t speak to probation officers seeking his input as they prepared a sentencing recommendation on the boys for the court.”

The problem is, however, they get Sec. 8 housing and come into the suburbs to contaminate neighborhoods, schools and shopping areas.

My better half is of the opinion that judges who slap wrists should be held accountable for the next crime the animals commit. (I can dream.)
There should be an organization tracking all criminal convictions and, for multiple offenders, distributing a press kit that:
1. Lists all prior offenses.
2. And previous victims.
3. Sentencing for each offense.
4. And the names and photographs of the judges that awarded them! And, if appointed, by whom.
Eventually a database of judges (and appointers) who had rendered the most damage to society could be developed.
