The National Transportation Safety Board has released a statement revealing the source of Friday afternoon's embarassing KTVU hoax -a summer intern for the agency who "acted outside the scope if his authority" and "erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew" on the Asiana plane that crashed in San Francisco.
The Bay Area TV station read the racist crew names on air: Captain Sum Ting Wong, We Tu Low, Ho Lee Fuk, and Bang Ding Ow.

Sum Ting Wong. Newscaster Tu Stupid.

His career is totally shot now. If he ever wanted to work for the NTSB or any government agency dealing with aircraft accidents he’s a gonner. Maybe he can work for Biden.

It was probably one of the managers or producers, but the intern was heading out the door soon anyway.

Hey, if the Gummn’t will hire Mary Schiavo and put up with Biden, the sky’s the limit for this boy.

Hey those guys weren’t too bright on the days coverage of the crash. One time they said the aircraft was upside down.

I’m not exactly sure how the intern made the newscasters READ THE NAMES OUTLOUD.

Yeah, whatever. How about you hyphenated Americans take some of those American CRM (Crew Resource Management) lessons the pilots in our country have been using for well over a quarter century now and mail ‘em back to the old country. Summary:
Captain no god.
Copilot no bump on log - use mouth to save everybody kimchi.
Check airman see houses get big; trouble same size soon follow.

Regardless of who was responsible, this has to be one of the most insanely funny bloopers in the history of news broadcasting.

Wasn’t this same thing in a “Scary Movie” plot?
Where they start typing things in a TelePrompter and the newscaster just reads it without thought.

Although they denied it at first, I thought someone at the NTSB had provided the names.
I am sure that he was sure that the KTVU recipient would get the joke and a chuckle. 'Sum Ting Wong' is not exactly a subtle play on words...
Tough lesson learned - never underestimate someone's comprehension abilities.
