On Thursday’s “NOW w/Alex Wagner” on MSNBC, MSNBC contributor and managing editor of The Grio Joy Reid charged that Republicans oppose elements of the controversial immigration reform bill out of desire for indentured servitude and to prevent what she called “brown people” from becoming U.S. citizens.
“I mean, didn’t we do this before?” Reid said at the opening of the show. “Wasn’t it called indentured servitude, right, where you come and pay all this money out and you are not a citizen, but you’re legally allowed to work on the farm? Like, this sounds like indentured servitude is what they want because as Josh [Barro] said, what Republicans are afraid of is — they don’t want to make these folks citizen because they don’t think they’ll vote for them in 13 years from now. They don’t think they can get there. But it is also a very sort of ugly ethnic argument that they don’t want to add more brown people to the population of the United States underlying the argument.”

Too bad there isn’t one single elected Republican - let alone a Republican Senator - who will stand up to Reid in public.

Skin color is not the issue, in the least. The fact is that if all ‘brown’ people, as Reid puts it, were likely to be Republican voters, Reid and the majority of the left would block their entry into the US and would be pushing for tighter border controls.
How can these ‘brown people’ become indentured servants in the USA if we don’t let them in?

Lord we cannot live with these people anymore. Everything they speak out of their mouths are lies. You cannot do anything productive with these people. They are so hardened and twisted Lord, you cannot reason or even coexist with them without conflict. You cannot work on just laws with them.
Their own words tell us what they think of us. Is it any surprise we can’t get anything done when they believe the lies about us? They can’t murder enough unborn babies but we’re the death culture because we believe the already born can exercise equal force against their attackers employing self defense? Just one example. so many others.
Lord, if it’s your will, take us from here, and let them see what their world turns into with all the people they consider obstacles, removed. Let them have a crack at implementing their liberal utopia with anyone who’d oppose them gone, nobody to blame but themselves if it fails. And it will fail, Lord, it will fail because their faith is totally in themselves, they believe they can do no wrong, they are the smart ones, they are the upright and uninpeachable. They are better than we are, once we are gone they can build their perfect world without anyone from the evil Christian right opposing or objecting to their brilliant and wonderful plans.
Give them what the want Lord. Let them see what happens when they are left to their own ends.

Reid just wants to be able to say the words "indentured servitude" on television, and link those words to the Republican party.
I guess he thinks the words "racist" and "Nazi" have lost their zing. "Indentured servitude" is just as good.

Lots of white English people were indentured servants. Benjamin Franklin was indentured to his eldest brother, a printer, for ten years. It’s how he got his start in printing, publishing and eventually, opinion leadership.

What this is all about, Mr. Reid, is to actually secure our borders.
It is a bad idea to continue a failed policy to reward those who break our laws. Doing that encourages more people to ignore the law and enter our country illegally. The evidence for this is that we now have 20 million plus illegal immigrants in this country because we granted amnesty to 2 million aliens in 1986.
You lied to our country by falsely promising to secure our borders in 1986. Secure our borders, Mr. Reid. You work for us! Secure our borders, and then deal with those already here in a compassionate, meaningful way. Take the time to read and discuss any proposed legislation.

His own mormon church was prejudiced against brown skin until their head guy “fell off his ass” and had a “vision” back In 1975! I lived in Salt Lake City at that time and saw the whole news event unfold. If Harry Reid’s values are representative of the Mormon doctrine, I’d be running from it.
