It’s apparent Eliud Martir Montalvo never heard of the old warning about taking a knife to a gunfight.
It was a retired Marine who was carrying a concealed weapon that brought a halt to Montalvo’s alleged crime spree, which included a series of attempted carjackings in Orange County, Fla., this week.
According to WFTV-TV in Orlando, the suspect allegedly tried to steal four cars, one after another, on Tuesday.

Authorities said the attacks all were within a block of one another, and the episode was halted when a Marine Corps veteran, Andrew Koplin, pointed his concealed weapon at the alleged carjacker and kept it there.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the rampage started when Montalvo tried to grab the car keys from Joan Shedd, 79.
She wouldn’t give them up, and he kicked her to the ground before running off when a bystander chased him.
“He gave me a hard shove and I went backwards and landed on the cement, ” Shedd told WESH-TV.

Things deteriorated when Montalvo then tried to carjack Connie Sue Gooley’s truck nearby.
Montalvo had to pull a knife to convince Gooley to give up her keys, but when he opened the driver’s door she slammed his head against the side of the truck.
On his third attempt, Montalvo allegedly tried to carjack Carissa Sanchez, who was at a stoplight in the street. But before he could get the car going, Koplin and another witness ran to the car, and the Marine veteran pulled his gun on Montalvo, who, once again, ran.

Eliud Martir Montalvo Needs to have his citizenship status checked. If not a U.S. citizen, he needs to be deported.
A jail sentence only puts his upkeep on the citizen’s dime.

From the picture I saw he may be Fatherless, but hardly a young man. I’m going to go with undocumented immigrant just trying to hijack the cars that Americans don’t want to.
I’m glad this young Marine stopped it and that it worked out the way it did. I’m not sure that I would have let the knife-wielding thug run to the next car though. Of course then one runs the risk of getting Zimmermaned.

And the Marine will be charged by the DOJ for violating the carjacker’s civil rights.
