US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden, who has been holed up in a Moscow airport for more than two weeks, has agreed to an offer of political asylum from Venezuela, a top pro-Kremlin lawmaker said on Tuesday.

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Well, he'd better skip Key Largo, but might end up writing a book, making a ton of pesos or whatever, and having a pretty nice life.
And then the CIA pulled up alongside.......
LOL! I’d pick Bolivia because the Andean region is a great place to hide. You can buy “air cover” real cheap, and the borders are porous. Things too hot in La Paz? Just slip on down to Buenos Aires. Tell ‘em Klaus Barbie sent you.
There is nowhere to hide in South America if the CIA is after you. Russia, or China, or Muslim countries would be better. Venezuela is US's backyard. He would have to be on guard 24/7/365, but the extraction force would only need to get one favorable occasion. As an extreme measure, they will just send a word that his head would be well paid for. I do not see how he can survive, short of a major surgery and fake ID.
Obama and Maduro...no difference between the two.
Hopefully Snowden finds refuge in a country not afraid of Obama’s threats.
LOL Klaus Barbie is pretty close to moi backwards. But no cigar.
"I do not want to live in a world where everything I do and say is recorded. That is not something I am willing to support or live under."
"I don't want to live in a world where there's no privacy, and therefore no room for intellectual exploration and creativity."
And he then asks for asylum in Venezuela. Only Zimbabwe, Cuba, and North Korea are less free, according to Heritage. Obama loves Venezuela.
"I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions, and that the return of this information to the public marks my end."
"Theres no saving me."
"The only thing I fear is the harmful effects on my family, who I won't be able to help any more. That's what keeps me up at night."
"I do not expect to see home again."
His actions (not including the actual "whistleblowing")and movements can hardly be considered heroic or selfless. Fears for his family? What family? He has no family of his own. His father was a coast guard officer who lives in Pennsylvania, his mother a federal court clerk in Maryland.
I think this whole thing may be an operation to accomplish this:
"The great fear (replace fear with desire) that I have regarding the outcome for America of these disclosures is that nothing will change. [People] won't be willing to take the risks necessary to stand up and fight to change things... And in the months ahead, the years ahead, it's only going to get worse. [The NSA will] say that... because of the crisis, the dangers that we face in the world, some new and unpredicted threat, we need more authority, we need more power, and there will be nothing the people can do at that point to oppose it. And it will be turnkey tyranny."
I guess North Korea and Cuba were all booked-up.
Also keep in mind, Snowden can sit around in Caracas for a few weeks sipping tropical drinks, and then under the surface rig a deal with another Latin American country a little less authoritarian (communist) than Venezuela, and then get there, without ever passing over US or extraditable airspace. I am sure the Venezuelans could issue him travel documents or a passport. This might just be a stop on the way to his real final destination, maybe even a fakeout, is what I am saying. If he is a true patriot and has not been "turned" to the Red (dark) Side, then he will learn to loath Comrade Maduro and that whole lot down there, very, very soon. We shall see. What a strange story with many strange twists and turns.

Agreed with both of you.
And it's really annoying when as a conservative American I have to say that Putin is doing the right thing an awful lot of the time. Banning gay marriages, banning adoptions of Russian children by single people in countries where homosexuality is legal, and now this. I know he's got his own agenda, but at least Putin is a patriot who loves his country and is willing to fight for it.
Please, somebody... wake me up and tell me this is a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.
This is an nteresting issue. One should be able to separately judge good and bad actions taken by a person. NSA whistleblower stufff = good. Exposing chinese hacking = bad. Also both NSA and Snowden are wrong. No good guys here and thus no need to take a side. Anyone that breaks the law should be prosecuted. The fact snowden is going to VZ says a lot.
“Good luck getting there.”
The Russians may go ahead and put him on a nuclear sub and send it to Caracas. If they do then do you think anyone is going to fire on it to get them to give up Snowden? I don’t think so.
If I were Snowden I’d take a job at the Starbuck’s in Odenton, Maryland where lots of the NSA people get their coffee every morning. The last thing they’d ever notice is the barista making their vente latte for them.
So I was right!
Says a lot to me too. He is no hero in my book, but neither is the NSA.
Maybe he’ll run for President of the USA. It would be very healthy change to have a POTUS that actually put our Bill of Rights and our Constitution first. Instead they hype the perpetual fear of terror to steal our rights (drip by drip) and get into entangling alliances. “State Security” has been the historic lie and boondoggle that the fascists, commies and German STAZI use to spy and hold citizens.
Give me liberty or give me death.
Folks need to remember that Snowden embarked upon his contract with the intention of disclosing secrets and that his major initial heartache was that Obama broke his promise to close Gitmo.
Also, remember, Snowden didn’t go to a member of Congress (such as Rand Paul) of the media to reveal this. He went to China. Then Russia. Now Venezuela.
And he has threatened to reveal other secrets as well.
Finally, he is the first US person with a security clearance to publicly state that Stuxnet was a joint US/Israeli operation. What possible “patriotic” motivation could he have had for that revelation???
"member of Congress of the media"? What are you talking about? No matter. How many staff members do you think Rand Paul has, 100, 200? Do you naively think that anyone can directly approach Rand Paul or any member of the governing or media elite?
One of the best movies I ever saw.
