"They won't stop him. That card was blown when they grounded Evo Morales' plane a couple of weeks back. They won't try that again. Also had the side effect of enhancing anti-American opinion in Latin America. Leading me to believe the whole episode was a Vlad Putin set-up."
Assuming this is real information, Snowden will probably fly Aeroflot. Putin would just love Obama to force down a Russian jet. Things would get real interesting, real fast and Obama won't even remember the name Snowden when Vlad is done with him.

If he’s bitter over Gitmo and drone strikes, what’s he going to say about human rights abuses in Venezuela, China, or Russia?

"Buddy of mine said his dad was stationed in Iceland. Said that the place was filled with beautiful, buxom young blonde women, who did not have a tooth left in their head."
Having been to Iceland multiple times, I want to tell you that is not accurate, at least in the 21st century. There are worse places, many worse places, than to end up in Iceland.

I think it’s a good choice, Russia seems like a dreary, miserable place to live. Venezuela has nice beaches and weather.....

The one thing, imo, is Swowdin will not really be safe in Venezuela. If the US has a reward for him, it will not look good for him. I think Swowdin did not think this through completely.

Remember.... Iceland didn’t turn Snowden down, they just didn’t vote to bend the law that says you have to be in-country to apply for asylum. That’s where he really wants to be.

Not too sure Iceland would have kept him? But it begs the question as to why he not go there in the first place, instead of Hong Kong?

Two considerations: the price of oil and Venezuela’s desire to avoid becoming the laughingstock of other countries south of our border. Keeping him happy will be a nationalist effort there.
