The administration can be proud of its performance in creating jobs. The jobs report released last Friday show a couple of significant records that no other administration in history can match.
From Washington Examiner:
Behind Wal-Mart, the second-largest employer in America is Kelly Services, a temporary work provider. Friday's disappointing jobs report showed that part-time jobs are at an all-time high, with 28 million Americans now working part-time. The report also showed another disturbing fact: There are now a record number of Americans with temporary jobs.
Approximately 2.7 million, in fact. And the trend has been growing.
In the first quarter of 2013, U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.86 million temporary and contract workers, or 2 percent of all non-farm employment in the United States, according to the American Staffing Association. This represents a 2.9 percent growth from the same period in 2012. For just the month of June, there was a 6.7 percent growth in the number of staffing jobs than last year.
Temp jobs made up about 10 percent of the jobs lost during the Great Recession, and because of high turnover (the average length of temp employment is 3 months before a worker moves on to a permanent job), one in 10 non-farm workers were employed by a US staffing firm at some point during the past year, according to ASA. In fact, nearly one-fifth of all jobs gained since the recession ended have been temporary.
Meanwhile, another 240,000 full time jobs were lost.

Obama is right about one thing: This is not an exceptional country (anymore)....thanks to him.
Obamanation. Welcome to the jungle.
I venture the biggest employer is the US government?
Isn’t the government bigger than WalMart even
Kelly service isn’t the kind of temp agency anyone would even want on their resume. It’s almost all receptionist or very low level.
If you’re skilled you can make a good career out of consulting (not my thing, I’d prefer something more stable) but these are near min wage jobs at this one. Nasty, awful situation.
Except for Reagan we've had mostly rotten presidents over the past 50 years. And both political parties are terrible at the national level. Obama stands on the shoulders of giants.

Notes:
1Data comes from agency 113 monthly submissions and covers total end-of-year civilian employment of full-time permanent, temporary, part-time, and intermittent employees. Executive branch includes the Postal Service, and, beginning in 1970, includes various disadvantaged youth and worker-trainee programs. Uniformed Military Personnel data comes from the Department of Defense.
2Excludes 7,411 project employees in 1963 and 406 project employees in 1964 for the public works acceleration program.
3On Jan. 1, 1969, 42,000 civilian technicians of the Army and Air Force National Guard converted by law from State to Federal employment status. They are included in the Federal employment figures in this table starting with 1969.
4Includes temporary employees for the decennial census.
Economically, we’ve been living off the carcass of a long-dead beast. It is only a matter of time until the carcass is bare....
Obamacare might be the answer. In the UK 1.4 million people work for their socialized National Health Service providing health care for about 63 million people. Using the same proportion Obamacare might require 6.9 million employees.
Thanks for the stats, SeekAndFind. They tell a story
Can you blame businesss? I don't see how. What possible incentive do they have to hire a full time worker unless they are desperate? What the geniuses at the White House haven't quite figured out yet is that businesses are in business to make a profit. The administration appears to see business as an extension of their permanent campaign and should add full time staff to make them look good.
The author presumes Obama's marxist crime syndicate are merely motivated to look good. I have no such illusions. This is sabotage on a national scale, pure and simple.
...almost all. I was contracted in thru Kelly services to design head lamps for Ford in 2000. I was paid $35. Just saying. The life of a contract designer takes one down some strange paths!! ;)
Hey, I was a Kelly girl in my youth! (Let’s give it its real name.) I went on to become an executive secretary - hardly a low skill job. It was excellent training for someone right out of school.
Yeah, I worked for them.
And, that’s all I got to say about that, Mac!
