Behind Wal-Mart, the second-largest employer in America is Kelly Services, a temporary work provider. Friday´s disappointing jobs report showed that part-time jobs are at an all-time high, with 28 million Americans now working part-time. The report also showed another disturbing fact: There are now a record number of Americans with temporary jobs. Approximately 2.7 million, in fact. And the trend has been growing. In the first quarter of 2013, U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.86 million temporary and contract workers, according to the American Staffing Association.

It’s good business sense. Temps and part-time workers are cheaper.
What amuses me, is that I sent Freepers shrieking when I pointed out that most new jobs here in NC were temp positions (and still are, along with $8 an hour retail).
W was president, then, could do no wrong, and so all kinds of excuses were made to explain how W’s economy was “gaining efficiency, or some such crap. This was years before 2008.
Now that there’s a president of a different sort, and temp jobs are suddenly bad and scary.
Is to laugh.
And there’s a fairly strong rumor that #3 is a repo service...
Agreed....these issues have been a long time coming and will be an even longer time to resolution.
How do the Temp companies fit into the obamacare scam?
Some friends of friends were bitching the other night about their 28 hour shifts....
Obots all of them.... Irony, they know not what they think.....

We have entered a Malthusian era where there are only so many “good” jobs to go around.
This is a result of becoming ever more productive. There is less and less need for low information work, but we have many low information persons.
Plus, immigrants of all legalities are willing to work these jobs. This is why the hospitality industry is booming. The well employed travel and are entertained. The lesser employed wait on them.
What is the endgame? Is there an endgame?
No requirement to provide health insurance to part timers
Just being registered with a employment agency does not mean that you are currently out of work. Kelly (in fact all of them) will take your resume if you are currently working and looking for a direct hire job.
It is bad and scary when full time employees are losing benifits and pay directly because of Obamacare.
They were loosing to outsourcing before obamacare was a gleam in a liberal’s eye.
A complete false hood. It is not due to the lack of jobs, it is because of government intrusion and high taxation.
Plus, immigrants of all legalities are willing to work these jobs?
It is not the legal immigrants that have hurt the work place, it is an army of illegals that will work for far less under the table.
The endgame?
The endgame is that we are reaching the point where the government will be the primary provider of all sustainance because they have rigged it that way.
Not to the speed and extent it has been foist upon the population during this administration. We have removed the incentive to work for many.
Correct.
Cutting ObamaCare out of the picture and returning our industrial base from our avowed Communist Chinese enemies is a good start.
To do that, the system of legalized bribery that makes Washington hum will have to be eliminated.
That’s never been done with any government in history, without fatal upheavals.

I have thought about this and I came to the conclusion
that we should build pyramids and sphinx-es-es.
Or Disney theme parks, or movies/video games that cost $200 million to make etc.
On a smaller scale, hip neighborhoods with plenty of interesting restaurants.
Plus immaculate landscaping everywhere, maintained by you know who.
