Gay activists protest the Masterpiece Cakeshop in 2012. Owner Jack Phillips now faces charges for not baking a cake for the gay couple. (Free Republic)
Gay marriage was banned by the Colorado constitution in 2006. But this didnt stop the Colorado Attorney Generals office from filing a discrimination complaint against Masterpiece Cakeshop for not baking a cake for a gay couple.
The Advocate reported:
A Denver bakery that refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple is about to face the legal heat.
The Colorado Attorney Generals office last week filed a discrimination complaint against the owners of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who last year declined to make a cake for Denver couple Dave Mullins and Charlie Craig, the Associated Press reports. The couple had their marriage ceremony in Massachusetts and wanted the cake for a hometown celebration with family and friends.
Jack Phillips, one of the owners of Masterpiece Cakeshop, had cited his Christian beliefs in refusing the mens business......

Use alum instead of flour.
But that’s what the whole “gay rights” agenda is about - abridging the religious freedoms of Christians.
As Obama’s labor secretary said, the goal is “Christians lose, gays win”.
In the State of Washington, a florist has been sued for refusing to provide flowers for a gay wedding. In response, that states legislature has before it SB5927 which would allow people, businesses or religious organizations to deny services if providing those goods or services would be contrary to the individuals or entity owners sincerely held religious beliefs, philosophical beliefs, or matters of conscience.
Not surprisingly, this has prompted outrage from gay rights activists in the state who argue that gays living in rural areas might not be able to purchase staples such as fuel or food if businesses are allowed to discriminate
And this:
Is there a pattern developing here? Are gay activists deliberately targeting bed and breakfast owners to push the issue of civil unions and gay marriage? What other businesses will they target after these? Your church may not even be safe. There is a case going on in Hawaii, and now we learn about one in Illinois. From One News Now:
A bed and breakfast in Illinois that is currently under attack by a homosexual couple is now getting aid from Alliance Defense Fund.
Complaints were lodged with the state Human Rights Commission by two men who objected to the owners of the TimberCreek Bed and Breakfast refusing to allow their property to be used for same-gender civil union ceremonies, which are now legal in Illinois.
ADF attorney Bryan Beauman says about the owners of the bed and breakfast, Theyre willing to host weddings for marriages, but they decline to host any civil union ceremonies for both same-sex or opposite-sex couples. But we just believe this discrimination charge is baseless.
The owners rejected the homosexual pairs request on the basis of their strongly held religious beliefs.
Constitutional, state law guarantees religious freedom for every American, including business owners, and that applies to owners of TimberCreek Bed and Breakfast, says Beauman. These complaints ignore those basic fundamental freedoms and theyre just further examples of the threat that the homosexual legal agenda poses to every Americans basic rights.
The Human Rights Commission could rule in favor of either the business or the homosexual couple. If the couple wins the case, the business may have to pay fines and attorney fees, as well as having to permit use of their property for civil union ceremonies.
Gays can’t marry. Only men and women can marry.
Homosexuals can have ceremonies that they pretend are marriages.
“Sounds like it might be time for Coloradites to recall their attorney general.”
Our attorney general, John Suthers, is a Republican.
“It doesn’t matter if there were not another baker in the entire state. Religious freedom is religious freedom. “
They needed to have the obligatory “we reserve the right to refuse to serve anyone” sign posted prominently.
ROFL!!!!
That's nasty ...
So... the compassionate caring libtards will let this man go into jail for a year for refusing to bake them a cake?
They couldn’t find another baker that was happy to take their money?
THIS is what liberalism is all about, I tell my children all the time. It is not about giving them rights- its about FORCING YOU to give up yours.
“He should have just baked the damn cake, with a secret ingredient in the icing.”
That’s a felony.
Should have gave them a cup cake at the
last minuet and swore that’s what they ordered give their
money back and then give the cup cake to the next customer
for free.
maybe. There’s something to be said for making a stand too though.
um... ew
Stalin and Hitler would be so proud. (Another wacky “historical” moment in the wacky Obama Nation!) Throwing somebody in prison for a year for not baking a cake. That really takes the cake. An all time low in the history of mankind.
What about reserving the right to refuse service?
What difference does that make?
Whatever happened to a businesses right to refuse service? Back in the good old days I would see signs that said “We Reserve the Right to Refuse Service”.
Can’t do that... what law was broken... Damned homosexual satan worshipers...
“The First Amendment also prohibits Congress or the States from prohibiting the free exercise of religion.”
Yes but, the constitution is a dead letter. We’ve been
off of it sense Reagan starting with Bush Sr. 24+ years now.
Yes. The homosexual agenda is the sharp blade of Satan’s spear; where it penetrates, great damage follows.
