President George W. Bush cautioned against criticizing gay couples, saying in an interview on This Week that you shouldnt criticize others until youve examined your own heart.
Bush had waded into the revitalized same-sex marriage debate last week - if only barely - in a comment to a reporter in Zambia, who asked whether gay marriage conflicts with Christian values.
I shouldnt be taking a speck out of someone elses eye when I have a log in my own, Bush said last week.
In an interview in Tanzania with ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl, the former president explained his comment further.
I meant its very important for people not to be overly critical of someone else until youve examined your own heart, Bush told Karl.
As president, Bush opposed gay marriage, and Republicans pushed ballot measures to ban it at the state level. The topic has seen rejuvenated discussion after the Supreme Court overturned the federal ban on same-sex marriage, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Compassionate Conservatism...
So because I sin, I should celebrate someone else’s sin?
Egads! He shouldn’t be talking “logs” and gay marriage in the same sentence. Go back under your rock!
“I meant its very important for people not to be overly critical of someone else until youve examined your own heart, Bush told Karl.”
I examined my own heart and my heart couldn’t take these sick freaks raping and molesting children aka Boy Scouts.

Stay out the Bushes
I hate people without the balls to state their position.
Beating around the Bush takes on a whole new meaning.
Sounds like the log isn’t in your eye George, but somewhere else.
A good point to ponder, indeed.
He’s been sniffing the oil paints and taking instruction from his live in librarian.
I have never cared about gays. They can do what they want.
The gays are doing to straight people what they accuse straight people of doing to them.
It is the deviants who are the bullies.
Good policy yields good politics, as far as Im concerned, Bush said.
In some ways, George Bush is the Jimmy Carter of the right.
President Bush, what system will exist that isn't broken, if presidents such as yourself don't enforce the laws that are there to make the system work smoothly?
DUH!
As for good policy yielding good politics, we'll see how politics are yielded after an immigration fiasco of this magnitude is passed.
The bad parts will be implemented before the ink is dry, and the good parts will become part of another 'broken system' that will need to be fixed in a decade once ten million more illegals are here.
Quit going to Eleanor Roosevelt to channel the sweatered one...
They weren't perfect, but heck, I'd take them back in a heartbeat right now.
Sound advice
Molestation is their reproduction method. Remember all hue and hoopla over the Matthew Sheppard robbery and murder and the near complete silence over the gruesome sex killing of Jesse Dirkhising?
“I have never cared about gays. They can do what they want.”
I do care when the gays want to adopt/purchase babies. That should not be allowed for the sake of the baby. If that opinion is MEAN, tough baloney. I care much more about that child that deserves a mommy and a daddy.
I’ve examined my own heart many times and always find something to examine even further. The thing is, I can thank God for His forgiveness each time - I agree with Him when I sin. Since the Bible is clear that same-sex sexual behavior is sin, those who engage in this behavior need to examine their own hearts. In addition, science doesn’t support the born-that-way theory... not that it matters from a biblical perspective.
I meant I don’t care what they do with their sex organs.
Complete garbage. No broken system. Just Obama AND his several predecessors who deliberately refused to enforce immigrations laws year-after-year.
W looks worse to many every time he opens his mouth, or maybe we're just gradually learning about how many things he lied about while seeking the presidency.
No, because you sin, you should help delude others into thinking their sins aren’t sins... or something like that. Hard to keep up with these people.
It is easy to refer to those verses of the bible that tell how to view others sins versus your own sins. However, when doing so if you forget or intentionally ignore the the fundamental teaching of what sin is your reference is hypocrisy. I never used the Bushs as a model for rightious living.
