Is the Zimmerman Case Really Open and Shut?

Is the Zimmerman case really open and shut?

Many conservatives seem to think so. But are they letting leftists dictate their conclusion? Are they not guilty of the same rush to judgment that made liberals convict Zimmerman before the facts, and merely reacting to that injustice rather than to the actual elements of the case? Is it not possible that they are themselves victims of a toxic environment that polarizes all things racial?

It is a fact that many, if not most conservatives have already concluded that George Zimmerman is innocent of any crime in connection with Trayvon Martin’s death and should be acquitted if justice is to be served. Indeed, this opinion was formed long before the trial began as a reaction to the outcry of liberals that Zimmerman was guilty — and guilty of being white – and that the crime was murder, and must be punished. But just because a lynch mob has formed to condemn Zimmerman in advance of the facts, does not mean one must conclude that Zimmerman is innocent of Trayvon Martin’s death.

The political melodrama that surrounds, and often overwhelms the judgments in this case reflects a culture war that has been roiling in this country for decades. It is a war in which the liberal ethos of “political correctness” requires that whites are bad and blacks are victims. Right-thinking individuals are justified in rejecting this poisonous standard. But in the interests of justice, the political melodrama should also not be allowed to obscure the reality of this trial: it is about the death of an unarmed 17-year-old, who was not a felon, who was on a neighborhood run to get Skittles, and whose life has been extinguished. Given that the young man was unarmed and that he inflicted very superficial injuries on

Here is what I think as a result of these reflections. The Stand Your Ground Law should be rewritten to apply only to home invasions since then it is clear that the intruder is the aggressor and the response is self-defense. Second, Neighborhood Watch guards should not be permitted to conceal and carry.

So much for the 2nd amendment, eh David?

Someone needs to bang Horowitz’s head on the pavement a few times.

The prosecutor will start warning the jury that if they find Zimmerman not guilty there will be riots in the streets and the police will not be able to protect them as they leave the court house.

Trayvon jumping out of the bushes to attack him — because those bushes don’t exist

Didn't know this.

I think the Zimmeran case is blatantly open and shut. At the end of the day, George Zimmerman should effectively own a good portion of Florida and the attorney general along with the instigator in chief, barack obama, should be locked away for several years.

You nailed it. The verdict is going to depend on how much these six women feel threatened that race riots are going to break out. IMHO.

Horowitz lost credibility when he brought up “Stand Your Ground.” It simply does not apply. If it did not exist the case at hand would not be affected.

Maybe they already have.

IIRC, from the re-enactment video, there were 3 foot tall hedges along the back of the apartments.

What clap trap, this guy refuses to look at the complete lack of evidence. The kid is not a felon because he is a minor, an adult would be in jail already for some of his pranks.

The same skittles candy being all about a kid with a sweet tooth, when a little effort on his part would reveal a little more into the nature of skittles and Arizona watermelon flavored juice drink (not tea).

Or maybe a look into some of his tweets where he brags about making purple drank and a sundrie of other home brew drug cocktails.

Justice will not be served by this court.

Let me tell you something you jack wagon.

I feel like it’s over I’ll grab whatever to stop the violence being visited upon me that might end my life.

It only takes one wrong thing to happen and George is never heard from or about again.

That’s right. Think brain damage or worse. It happens and as it so happen here George was gettin g his head hammered into the ground.

Superficial wounds? You Poosy. You fairy. Limp wristed, high minded, well cuddled moralist.

I guarantee you have never been in a fight.

You have no idea what being thrown around feels like or getting a well delivered knuckle sandwich right your nose, your eye socket ir having your head slammed into concrete.

GFY. I never thought about race until high brows like you brought it up and I don’t see how it’s Germain to anything in this case, as far as cause and causality are concerned.

Pound sand.

Horowitz examined this subject more closely in Radical Son (1996), a memoir tracing his odyssey from “red-diaper baby” to conservative activist that George Gilder described as “the first great autobiography of his generation."

That's from About David Horowitz on the linked site. From this disjointed, illogical screed, it's clear that Horowitz is not a Conservative. I now have my doubts if he ever was. This was the guy who edited Ramparts, an organ of the far-left. It seems he's simply revealing his true self.

It is open and shut. The preponderance of evidence shows Zimmerman’s innocence and he will be found guilty by political necessity.

The prosecution presented excellent evidence for the defense despite the pandering of a very biased judge that supports the racist narrative. However, this is a show trial.

Exactly. Nancy Grace kept claiming there were no bushes even though I saw plenty of hedges. Apparently those don’t count...

I think it will be a hung jury, they will want to kick the can down the road. They won’t want to be targets. Then they can write books or go on TV!

No matter the verdict, they riot.

Just like a NBA championship in Detroit.

It is just an excuse to destroy.
