Doctors treating former South African President Nelson Mandela say the anti-apartheid leader is in a “permanent vegetative state,” according to documents obtained by Agence France-Presse.
The documents, dated June 26, say Mandela’s breathing is being mechanically assisted and the Mandela family has “been advised by the medical practitioners that his life support machine should be switched off” due to the “perilous” state of his health. The person who organized the documents, D.A. Smith, wrote that the information came from “my instructing attorney” and not directly from the Mandela family. …

Someone with family there here at FR told me that the ANC gov has made it almost impossivle for people to get visas. They have a lottery with impossible odds. And, the gov only allows them to take a certain amount of money. Plus, the nations which put them in this predicament, refuse to allow them asylum.

Actually, his first wife was named Evelyn. Mandela abandoned her, and his two young sons in 1957 to take up with his young secretary, Winnie Madikizela. They married in 1958. Thank you.

You are right. The oppression in South Africa with visas is extreme as explained on the US State Dept. site.
“All travelers are strongly advised to have at least two fully blank passport visa pages upon arrival in South Africa. Travelers without the requisite blank visa pages in their passports may be refused entry into South Africa, fined, and returned to their point of origin at their own expense. In many cases, South African authorities have not granted approval for U.S. Consular officers to assist U.S. citizen travelers by adding extra visa page.”
Some Americans who travel a lot may get all the way to South Africa and not be let in the country simply because they lack blank pages in their passport.
