Rush Limbaugh just spent about 5 minutes talking about Free Republic as being the forerunner to the TEA Party and a group rejecting the progressive leadership of the Republican Party during the Clinton administration. Very positive.
Thanks for the link. Listening now to the replay of Rush talking about FReepers.
Thanks for the link, I made it just in time!
Oh, thank you for that image of Belly Girl! Haven’t seen her pic since 2003 when I was getting ready to deploy.
Of course, with that little middle, I always thought of her as `Tummy Girl’. Wish there’d been a pinup of BG in my tent. Great for morale.
Where is she now, I wonder.
Now that brings back some (good) memories!
I know for fact that Rush reads FR, many times I have been reading FR and listening to Rush at the same time, as posts were being made by freepers on a topic I have heard Rush within a couple of minutes say the exact same thing but not credit FR or the freeper.
He like most in the news visit our site, I think he even posts here....
Limbaugh at least was a user at one time. I’ve listened to him the year he began in LA on KFI (1989?). Anyway, he had mentioned it on one of his segments way back.
I wonder, too. In fact, I wonder what became of the ProtestWarrior organization. The website is still up but it looks inactive. Just an archives of events prior to 2008. Their forums are gone as well.
That said, I can barely listen to his show any more. It's pretty much just a run of commercials with occasional commentary between them. The ones I find particularly galling are him pretending he's commenting, when he's actually shilling for a product (Lifelock, I'm talking about YOU), or having someone "call in" and praise Two if by Tea.
One of my favorite memories, too, boomop1... As my wife/family arrived at the scene, Matt Drudge was just arriving with his television crew (for the old Matt Drudge Saturday Night show). He stopped me for a brief comment (never made the air). But what a day! We had driven down from Connecticut.
I think that Rush spoke about this to help drive traffic to FR. (He also spoke about Drudge yesterday as I recall.) He had O’Keefe on and he discussed activism that can be done with little or no monetary resources. Sarah Palin has started to discuss a third party, maybe Mark Levine as well.
D&R progressives control large budgets, which political consultants pursue. The Tea Party has been suppressed in its efforts to fund raise by the IRS. The consultants will do everything they can to silence the Tea Party from which they receive no revenue. That leaves Talk Radio conservatives, like Mark Levine and Rush, and conservative internet sites, FR, Drudge, and Breitbart...
It sounds like that the revolt against the Progressive Republicans is on. (or create a party inside a party?) I look forward to hearing more from Mark Levine....
Post his measured discussion of a third party the other day ( if you didn't hear it it was a bute ) and what is happening on immigration, I don't want to read the tea leaves....
But, I think today was classic El-Rushbo set up as he and Mark Levin and Sarah are continuing to send warnings and plant seeds of doubt and the inevitability of the E-GOP if they sell us down the road on immugration.
Our Divorce is almost final from the E-GOP, I am just waiting to get the marching orders to move out and start anew...
Brilliant minds think alike, you post is before mine but dovetail on the same theme, you smell it too, 3rd party coming soon? Something is in play here....
Noted author and historian Larry Schweikart is a Freeper.
I hold him and Mark Levin in similar regard.
LS was also a rock drummer who opened up for Steppenwolf.
Would a rock drummer opening for Steppenwolf be akin to a modern day Paul Revere?
Levin is FReeper holdonnow. Nothing stealth about it.
When his show first started nationally, he chatted here on FR during the commercial breaks on the show.
I don’t think he lurks here as often as he used to, now.
Haven’t seen Belly Girl in ages.
Thanks!
Incoming new member alert... :)
Rush is a national treasure, and how nice of him to speak well of Fr so close to the 4th of July. Perfect.
There have been more than a few cases when Rush quoted something we discussed almost word for word soon after we covered it.
I agree. I think there is a reason he did this. He has not typically appeared on any TV show, nor does he typically do interviews with book authors. The choice of O’Keefe, whose targets have been highly corrupt examples of progressive community activism (is there any other kind) stands out....
Something afoot.
He’s mentioned FR many times in the past.
