George Zimmerman, the neighbourhood watch captain accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, was "elated" that their fight might have been recorded on video, as he believed it would exonerate him, a court has heard.
Mr Zimmerman was shocked to learn that he had killed Trayvon Martin and told police that it was "always wrong to kill someone" according to his Roman Catholic faith, detectives told the jury in his trial.
Mr Zimmerman, 29, is charged with the second-degree murder of Trayvon, a black 17-year-old returning from the supermarket to a house he was visiting in Mr Zimmerman's gated estate, in February 2012.
A 44-day delay last year before the arrest of Mr Zimmerman, who is half-Peruvian, led to allegations of police racism, protests around the US and an intervention from President Barack Obama.
Mr Zimmerman, who says he was following Trayvon as he suspected him of preparing to commit a crime, denies murder and claims that he shot the teenager in self-defence after being violently attacked.
A recording of a police interview played to the court showed Detective Chris Serino telling him: "There's a possibility that whatever happened between you and him is caught on videotape." "I prayed to God that someone videotaped it," said Mr Zimmerman, "or the neighborhood had put up a video camera that I didn't know about".
Detective Serino told the court that the defendant seemed "very elated" at the prospect. "Either he was telling the truth or he was a complete pathological liar," he said, adding that he did in fact believe him....

They only edited out a few of Serino’s comments. Otherwise it is pretty much complete.
In this instance it was a lie. He wasn’t talking about the possibility that some video camera somewhere in the complex had recorded it, he was saying that it might be on TM’s phone, which he ominously placed on the table:
“And one of his hobbies happens to be the videotaping of everything he does. OK. He has, has a library, very impressive, going through his phone, we got a little bit, but the battery died. Were still working on that. Theres a possibility that whatever happened between you and him is caught on videotape. And this is going to be our final interview. Im not gonna talk to you any more after this. Were good, you know what Im saying? That right there, thats his cell phone.”

He knew there was no video. At best, he had no idea whatsoever whether there was video on there or not. That’s a lie, in the same way that I might tug on a your sleeve at the bar and say there’s a “possibility” that your wife is cheating on you — but to protect other people I really shouldn’t tell you why I think that. (Pretending that they couldn’t read the phone’s memory because the battery was dead is another obvious lie. You usually don’t even need the phone to read the phone’s memory card.) He was just guessing — hoping would be a more correct word — that GZ was telling some lie about what had happened.
Under cross examination, O’Mara asked him, “You lied, right, told Zim you found camera footage of that night...?” Serino does not deny that it was a lie.
I really have no idea about that. The thing I have been paying attention to is who claims whose voice is the one screaming out. Trayvon's dad (stepdad?) initially said that the scream was not from Trayvon and no one is making any big deal about it.
thanks
In my opinion GZ has a soft spoken voice. When the one witness said she thought it was TM because it sounded like a younger soft voice I can’t say for sure it would be TM. Did you hear how deep the 15 year old kids voice was? Although we have not heard TM’s voice.
And Trayvon's dad said the scream did not come from Trayvon.
Don’t Talk To Police

I’m thinking that Mr. Obama could ask Prime Minister Cameron to get Inland Revenue to talk to them. OTOH, the press is more independent in Britain than here, from what I’ve heard.
Mr. Zimmerman is white, Hispanic and black. We could ALL riot and have the Asians hold our coats! LOL
Oddly enough, during the Rodney King riots, hispanics were supposedly the majority of the rioters.
It was used to cover more then murder.
I agree with you, or at least that's how I think it will start.
The Home Owners Association paid a lot of money to Trayvon’s parents. If they had kept the cameras in working order they might have saved themselves a million bucks—and the State of Florida millions to conduct this show trial.
