The Conservative Treehouse ^ | July 2, 2013 | Sundance

Today, July 2nd, is DAY #17 (of 4th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.

Today Detective Chris Serino will be back on the stand. [Yesterday ended] on the stand with Chris Serino, who was the lead investigator for the Sanford Police Department on the Trayyvon Martin shooting.

Defense counsel Mark O’Mara led cross-examination with his usual consummate skill, obtaining responses from this witness–remember, the State’s witness–that all but completely guts the State’s charge in this case.

Among the key revelations so far: Zimmerman was always completely cooperative, open, and straightforward with all the police investigators over many weeks of multiple interviews, both in person at the police station and phone. The sense given is that Zimmerman demonstrated endless patience. (continue reading summary)

They had the FBI audio expert on the stand. You have to spend a lot of time with wet grass to know what it sounds like.

"A case can be made that the purpose of the trial is to vindicate Zimmerman the local cops and the prosecutor's office."

I believe that is the moment where the Zimmerman translator site put in the “What choo talkin’ about Willis..” because that is the exact look she had on her face.

The challenge interview is difficult because the interrogator can lie, trick, provoke the "subject".

When that happens, the subject can't match it up with the truth and it produces what I would call a "false positive". "Fear I guess" is the example in this case....

I think you are on to something there. They are trying to bring up the rationale for kicking this dog.

Miami Dade School police covered up TM crimes. He should have been in jail the night he was shot.

Drug possession, destruction of property, possession of stolen goods and a burglary weapon all found and covered up in an attempt to bring down reported crime rates.

Focus needs to be on when the prosecution begins to make their case, including GZ acting with a depraved mind. Don't they have to prove that? Have they even gotten close?

-- I smell a malicious prosecution case in GZ's future. --

Probably not. In Florida, that requires the prosecutor to have an independent reason for "hating" the target. There has to be some sort of actual malice exhibited by the prosecutor, against the defendant.

Under that standard, a hit man would be found innocent, because "hits" are just business. Cold-blooded killing, but done for money, not out of any spite for the target.

Corey is the equivalent of a hit man. And, under Florida law, there is no malicious prosecution when the prosecutor is "doing it for money." Not saying she is literally doing it for money, just saying that her motive wasn't animus toward Zimmerman.

She might get some harsh criticism from the press, but that is all she's got at risk. The state of Florida is going to cover her ass.

All I’ve seen so far are defense witnesses :)

The reality is the judge should throw this out as there is NO CASE but the pressure from the race baiters is apparently quite powerful.

-- Is he still with the department? --

Yes, he is. Smith, the black racist cop who pressured Serino, was promoted then retired. The promotion was for the purpose of inflating his retirement benefit.

No

I said the interrogation tape was a problem and I got lambasted.

You will see TODAY that O’Mara thinks it is a problem and will continue with the issue. I think he is skilled enough to defuse it. What..nobody should talk about an ISSUE he deems to be important enough to defuse it???

Can’t help it if most of you don’t want to see it.

Reminds me of those that did and may still continue to believe that idiot who claimed he practiced immigration for many years but didn’t have a clue about British Law as it pertains to Obama’s British citizenship AND BIGAMY.

Apuzzo.

Serino testified that it was a lateral move, and that he'd made it both ways, more than once. patrol - investigation - patrol - investigation - patrol sort of career history with SPD.

>> Don’t they have to prove that?

Yes — to the six jurors (and the judge, if they’re going for a directed verdict). No one else’s opinion counts.

>> Have they even gotten close?

Certainly not in *my* view. The way I see it, after the prosecution rests, a FAIR judge unafraid of outside influence should issue a directed verdict of not guilty to the jury.

However I don’t think Judge Debby is either fair or uninfluenced.

So it’ll be up to the jurors.

That was indeed priceless but I do lol when I think of the “Who’s on First” routine between the court recorder , lawyers and DD over CAC. That should have its own UT post!
