Jared Marcum is 14 years old. He just graduated the eighth grade. And if prosecutors in Logan, W.Va., have their way, he will be a convict before he can legally operate a motor vehicle.
Jared was thrust into the national limelight when, standing in the Logan Middle School cafeteria line, he refused a teacher’s order to turn his NRA T-shirt inside out to hide its image of a hunting rifle. In the principal’s office, he explained that the shirt was not in violation of school policy and that the teacher’s order was a violation of his rights. After consulting the school’s policy manual and putting in a call to the school attorney, the teacher conceded. That should have been the end of the kerfuffle.

If the settlement is of any significant amount, the individuals will simply declare bankruptcy.

You could say that. One of my closest friends in the police dept. used to get his ass kicked in HS and I defended him against the asshats who were picking on him. The bad part is got sent to the princy’ office more often LOL. I guess it went full circle when he was my reference for a green card, I guess out of gratitude.

I agree.
I think conservatives have to become more litigious in order to prevent government overreach; litigation is the only thing liberals understand, and it’s time to start taking them to court.
And then there’s my solution to that -
require all government agents/employees to carry malfeasance insurance as a term of employment.
If they get sued, the insurance cos start charging more for that person’s premiums, and eventually won’t cover them, ending their government career.
If you read the article, you’ll see an addendum at the bottom that says the criminal obstruction charge was dropped. I am not sure if that is all charges, or if there are others that are still being pursued.
Bankruptcy does NOT Discharge Civil Settlement Liability in most cases. It prevents using Bankruptcy as a way out of paying debts Court-ordered.
