Zimmerman trial judge openly assisting prosecution--can she do this?

Posted on 06/28/2013 9:11:39 AM PDT by IChing

Just before the break, the prosecution objected to a question asked of the witness by the defense. The judge overruled, but also told them it was the wrong objection, signaling to them to try another! Can she even do this, legally? They did try another, but it wasn't the one she was looking for.

I don’t mean to rub at any raw wounds, but I’ve noticed an increasingly hostile attitude toward these Al-Sharpton-type blacks like the Martins by hard-working Americans. I don’t think anyone of us are inherently violent, but it’s going to come to a point where regular Americans grow completely fatigued with the victimhood BS being peddled and will just outright reject it as a matter of course. Does anyone else see that?

Of course, being found “not guilty” by a court of law USED to be a definitive defense in civil suits. . .

There's a lesser burden of proof ("preponderance of the evidence," i.e., more than 50 percent, even 50.1 percent to 49.9 percent) in a civil case.

A criminal case requires proof "beyond a reasonable doubt," which should be a much higher standard. Note that it's not "beyond all possible doubt" or "beyond any doubt."

O.J. Simpson was incredibly acquitted, but he was found civilly liable. Of course he moved to Florida and never paid that judgment, to my knowledge.

assist the state in the case by allowing them wide latitude and redefining their arguments to better fit a positive result on their part.

Have you never been on a jury? I’ve been on three in my lifetime and the judge surely can do that IMO.

are T. Martin’s parents legally married? anyone know??? or are they only together for SHOW ???

They are, or at least *were*, at the time of the shooting, separated, if not divorced. Martin lived, and attended school, in Miami/Dade, and was sent to stay with his father, and his 'other woman' in Sanford during his suspension from school. (The house Martin was staying in wasn't under his father's name, but this third party's name.)

Yes. Anything to achieve the administration's goal.

See also Fairfax Law; any facts that support your side of the argument are fair facts...

If they are married it’s not a good marriage. He was openly living with another woman.

I’d bet Trayvon’s father has never been married. Probably just in a series of relationships.

He’s a former gang member (the Crips, I think) and he recently had his gang logo tattooed over with a pair of praying hands. He called a friend of the Zimmerman family who was in the courtroom supporting him a M.F. - to his face.

Could be the judge wants the prosecution to have no reasonable basis for appealing after Zimmerman is found innocent.

Yep. I know I have. I am sick and tired of the race card being played at every opportunity.

Zimmerman will simply plead the turnip defense. Squeeze him all they like, he won’t bleed.

Closest I’ve come is being in the jury pool, and then they excused us because some kind of deal had been reached and the trial didn’t happen or something. I’ve had to give testimony in a civil proceeding, but other than that, no jury trial.

True enough but can’t they bring some other type charge not related to this type murder charge?
