Opponents are optimistic that the House will put the brakes on.
By Andrew Stiles
In the end, Gang of Eight members failed to secure the 70 votes they wanted for their immigration-reform bill, which passed the Senate 68 to 32 on Thursday, after months of mostly secret negotiations.

NR is still in business? With a business model of calling white conservatives “racist” for the evil left you would think they could just pass out copies of their rag in the office and every subscriber could save the postal charge.
Why do we have to have laws passed which result from secret negotiations?
Why do we have to have bills which are thousands of pages long, which nobody has read?
Why do we have to have some “comprehensive” bills on some subject, which contain numerous unknown provisions to deal with some pressing issue, rather than passing bills which address a specific aspect of that isssue?
Why do we have to rush to pass these bills by some arbitrary deadline, just because someone such as Harry Reid decrees that’s how it’s going to be?
The House of Representatives says they will not entertain the Senate plan, they will offer their own plan.
Another example of Republicans differing from Democrats only in implementation details, not agenda.
Under Bonehead, the chance of house-supported amnesty is 50-50.
Following that, it’s just a matter of starting a countdown pool for the start of CW0-II and the “Great Reset”.
If Bonehead wasn’t Obama’s right-hand man there would be no House Amnesty Bill.
Don’t wait for the damage to be done, dump Boehner NOW.
House Last Line of Defense Against Amnesty: fold it up into a paper airplane and throw it out the window.

I couldnt have said it better myself, Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS). My friend Peter Roskam (R-IL) also stated the case well. From National Review:
Chief deputy whip Peter Roskam of Illinois is certain that the House would never take up the Gang of 8s bill in its present form. It just wont happen. It is a pipe dream to think that that bill is going to the floor and be voted on, he said at a breakfast Thursday hosted by National Review.
Heres the bottom line, Kids. Two words: No conference. The 1000+ page mess that is coming over from the Senate has to be D.O.A. when it gets to the House. We reject the uncoupling of border security from the legalization of illegal aliens. We want border security first. The fact that Barack Obamas team, who, as we reported here (if you missed this post, you definitely need to read it) were pulling all the strings behind the scenes made that demand a deal killer tells you everything you need to know. The fact that Obama and Schumer rejected any quantifiable objective measure of border security, such as the one John Cornyn proposed, is demonstrates that they understand all too well that the tough border security is a sham because (1) Janet The Border is More Secure Than Ever Napolitano can waive most of it and (2) future Congresses can refuse to spend the money.
So, repeating when you write and call your Congressman, tell him you want no conference with this Senate bill. You want individual bills to address the problems with border security and employer verification. Tell him that otherwise, well be back here in 10 or 20 years, and thats the definition of insanity; that is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
More important information here.
Stand firm, Patriots. We can defeat this amnesty. Remember distracting and discouraging you are two of the Lefts most potent weapons. Take them away
Totally untrue. The GOP isn’t monolithic and most members are on our side.
Massive border security, reform of the visa process, and (in my opinion) some sort of allowance for those already here to get a work visa without criminal penalty is fine. The rest is crap.
We do need some reforms. The system is outdated, it is not set up to reflect our need for skilled workers in the tech industries, nor does it reflect our current technology capabilities. We do not need special pathways to citizenship, nor do we need all the pork and special favors.
The question is how does the House pass something that doesn’t get twisted into the Senate bill once it is in conference. I just don’t know how that can be done, because the public pressure would be huge after the House passes their bill.
How about we secure the border?
What is the rush for any of the other components of this “comprehensive reform”?
With F&F, AP, IRS, NSA, Benghazi, and arming Al Qaeda in Syria why is ANY time being spent on the Amnesty agenda?
Aside from being far less important than any of the items mentioned it is Obama’s agenda. Republicans were not elected to implement Obama’s agenda.
Conservatives must start on the 2014 cleaning of the sewer ASAP.
Here's an opportunity however, to demonstrate that is not the case.
Some suggestions: The House bill should not exceed 12 pages instead of 1200 pages - outline the hard requirements of securing the border first, then, the path to citizenship in the future (reversing the tables on amnesty first/security second) - reiterate enforcement of existing laws rather than creating new ones and - remove funding for Obamacare and move the funds to support this bill.
Just common sense ideas that plain folks can understand
How about NO BILL?
Enforce existing law.
How can we know what problems exist with a system if we don’t use the system?
Secure the border - as required by current law.
EVERYTHING else can wait.
THAT is how to demonstrate that Repubs are not implementing a Democrat agenda.
Bah, the GOP has been doing this for decades, with the exception of the 80s. They have been trying since the 1930s to out-democrat the democrats and failing miserably at it. Here is FDR mocking the GOP about it in 1936:
'We believe in all these things. But we do not like the way that the present administration is doing them. Just turn them over to us. (laughter and applause) We will do all of them, we will do more of them, we will do them better and, most important of all, the doing of them will not cost anybody anything'" "Let me warn you, and let me warn the nation, against the smooth evasion that says 'Of course we believe these things. We believe in social security. We believe in work for the unemployed. We believe in saving homes. Cross our hearts and hope to die. (laughter and applause)
FDR won that election and two more after it. Then Truman won a third and if Ike wasn't a huge war hero the dems probably would have gone on winning elections. This GOP strategy of accepting democrat premises and policies but promising to implement them in a more efficient way has never worked. It's why as a conservative I refuse to be a republican.
Rubio. Man, what a let down. Expected more from him.
Michelle Bachman explained it. ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse.NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call congress.
Tell them to stop all Amnesty or immigration bills.they are all trojan horse bills. some will promise border security that will never be enforced anyway.
Bachmann explained it . The House will write a border security bill only . then in conference the senate will add the virus and then bring it back to the house. then the conservatives wont vote for it but democrats will all vote for it so then they only need 10% of republicans to pass Amnesty and the virus that will destroy America. so any bill at all will be added the virus . so best thing is for Boner to not let any immigration bill at all come out of the House. that is the only hope . call boner and the members of the House.
in the bill will be the virus:
at least 3 ways to destroy the USA
1. amnesty to 30 million illegals and chain migration.
2. Amnesty forever to ANY foreigner in the 3rd world. all he has to say is hes seeking political asylum .there are 6 billion poor in the 3rd world . and this bill will allow any of them to come here , all they have to do is to get on a boat and come here.
3. many more work visas for many occupations
Totally agree - even better
