One of the prosecution's key witnesses in the George Zimmerman murder trial began her testimony today and recounted how she spoke with Trayvon Martin by phone as he tried to evade the man he described as a "creepy ass cracker" who had begun following him. At one point, when he was near the house of his father's girlfriend, Trayvon apparently thought he had eluded Zimmerman. Rachel Jeantel said she told him to keep running, but "he said, nah, he'd just walk faster." Then Jeantel heard Travyon curse, and he told her that his follower was behind him, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Jeantel, 19, recounted an exchange between the two, with Trayvon demanding to know why Zimmerman was following him and the "hard-breathing" Zimmerman demanding to know what Trayvon was doing in the neighborhood. Then she heard a struggle, with Trayvon shouting, "Get off, get off!" as the phone went dead, reports the AP. Jeantel will be back on the stand tomorrow to wrap up her testimonymuch to her displeasure. The Sentinel notes that when defense attorney Don West informed the judge that he had two hours of questioning left, she exclaimed, "What?" In his questioning, West tried to dent Jeantel's credibility. Though 18 at the time of the killing, she admitted that she lied and said she was a minor because she hoped it would keep her out of the case, reports the Huffington Post.
Is this the one who lied about why she didn’t go to Trayvon’s funeral and wrote a letter to Trayvon’s mommy and daddy that she can’t read?
I would think her inability to read her “own” writing because she “can’t read cursive” would disqualify everything she says.
Is this the same friend who couldn’t read the ‘letter she wrote’ because she doesn’t read cursive?
“he described as a “creepy ass cracker”
Wow that’s not racist at all.........unbelievable.
Not when people see trials as a way to achieve “social justice” instead of ascertaining guilt or innocence.
Guess we all know she marked as a liar... why do they keep asking her questions?
“Get off, get off!”
Doesn’t mean Zimmerman was physically on the youth.
It can be read as back off.
I do believe so, also:
“Trayvon’s Friend Recalls Him Saying, ‘Get Off, Get Off’
Can she prove it? if not, it didn’t happen.............atleast not in the real world.
Everything she is saying is Hear Say.
This would be the focus of the media if the ethnicities were different.
So, is hearsay (lying) now admitable as evidence in a criminal trial?
Anything she says may be something Crump coached her to say.
> Not when people see trials as a way to achieve social
> justice instead of ascertaining guilt or innocence.
This is the clearest statement I’ve read on the fiasco, and it is undeniably correct.
The fix is in.
Zimmerman is guilty, not because of the evidence, not because of the merits of the prosecutor’s case, but because white man Zimmerman killed a black kid. End of story.
Zimmerman will do hard time for this.
If not, there will be riots and killings of White people.
We are becoming more and more like South Africa in the 1990s.
why would the phone suddenly go dead?
How convenient (and dramatic)
did trayvon hang it up? was this before or after he was in the middle of a fight?
Everywhere I look, this phrase is included in any article, right at the beginning, or headline:
“George Zimmerman murder trial”
Speaks volumes about the agenda at work...
This smart ass should be in jail for telling lies..Who here believes Zimmerman will go free..With all the black riots that will happen I think the jury will convict Mr Zimmerman even if he is innocent..
Defense attorney Don West grilled Rachel Jeantel about a letter she had a friend write for Martin's parents in the weeks after the February, 2012 incident,...
"Nobody asked me," replied Jeantel, who said she can't read cursive, which the letter is written in.
