Karl Rove: More White Votes Alone Won't Save the GOP
The Wall Street Journal ^ | June 26, 2013 | Karl Rove

Posted on 06/27/2013 6:36:23 AM PDT by MinorityRepublican

As immigration reform grinds its way through the U.S. Senate, the main focus has rightly been on the legislation's policy consequences. But there are important political implications, especially for the GOP, that are worth examining.

Some observers, including Phyllis Schlafly, Pat Buchanan and the Center for Immigration Studies, argue that if Republicans want to win back the White House, they should focus on white voters (who comprised 72% of the electorate in 2012) rather than worrying about Latinos. After all, new Census Bureau estimates are that 100,042,000 whites voted in 2008 but only 98,041,000 did in 2012. Wouldn't it be better to get those two million whites back into the polling booth?

Who has done more damage to the Republican brand than Karl Rove?

Gee karl... we can count better than you and we can see that 73% of America is white and about half of those people never vote. You are a putrid pos and I despise you and anyone allied with you.

I suppose it must be going down in flames for Karl to pen this hastily written WSJ piece.

The irony is, if the McCain and Romney campaigns had put the same energy into effective GOTV campaigns that Rove did for Bush in 2004, Romney probably would have won and McCain might have had a fighting chance. I don’t know why Rove is so deluded to think that giving the vote to a block that goes majority Democrat is going to help the GOP. Of course, he also thinks that an establishment squish is the best presidential candidate, so there apparently is no limits to his self-delusions.

No kidding Rove you moron. That’s why we need to reach out to all Americans but that doesn’t include the GOPe plan of playing race politics and sucking up to the NAACP, CAIR, La Raza and others.

There are better ways.

Hey Karl, Romney would have had to get over 74% of the Hispanic vote to win the election. More than our dear leader. Something that will NEVER happen.

Your cover for the business lobby is getting pathetic. Go cash your check from the open border lobby and stop trying to destroy the middle class you damned country clubber.

So Rove’s solution will be to field more liberal candidates — maybe Jeb Bush, Chris Christie or how about Marco Rubio for President?

The idiocy of the Republican Party is astounding.

I suspect Rove got paid more for politically-worthless ads than for GOTV drives. So he pushed politically-worthless ads.

Karl Rove: More White Votes Alone Won't Save the GOP

Sure it would...if whites voted Republican at the same rate (90+) that blacks vote for democrats, or even the same rate Hispanics vote democrat (70+), Republicans would win every national election for the next half century.

And quite frankly, I think the Republican party stands a better chance of increasing it's share of the white vote than getting into a bidding war for the minority vote, in a battle they can never win anyway because the democrats will always be able to out out pander and offer more handouts.

Rove is interested in winning elections. He has no interest in principles at all. He should just become a democrat and get it over with.

Karl Rove??????? The man took a drubbing in the 2012 elections. I can forgive that, but he is so arrogant that he won’t change. I can’t forgive that.

Rove and Buchanan are wrong. Quit focusing on RACE and gender. We need to FOCUS on Income and Martial Status.

FACT is that the GOP "problem" with young women is limited to single Moms. Since this is a big issue in the black community and growing in the Hispanic community, there is your disconnect. Offering amnesty isn't going to get a 21 year old Hispanic women with a young kid living in poverty to vote Republican.

Mr. Rove, what percentage of formerly illegal immigrants who became legal under the Reagan amnesty ended up voting for Romney in 2012? Care to estimate that number? Maybe 3%? How many conservatives stayed home or simply left the presidential space blank rather than voting for Mitt Romney? 3%? 12%? 25%?

Aside from liberal activists, the great majority of the citizens of this country who happen to be of the mythical Latino racial group do not want Spanish language ballots, do not want Spanish being taught as a primary language in schools, do not want more illegals, and would greatly prefer to see those same illegals escorted across the border.

And they come out and vote on the topic, WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY PRESENTED TO THEM. This has happened in California; the majority of Latinos voted to deny benefits and accommodation to illegals. If those ballot proposals were counting on ‘white’ voters, they would have failed, as liberals yet again ASSUMED what the Latino population wanted.

Mr. Rove, you can do all the cocktail napkin math you want, but so long as Republicans continue to promote ‘middle of the road’ candidates who present virtually no ideological difference between themselves and their opponents, Republicans will continue to lose presidential elections.

Yeah, Karl.

RINO’s are the ticket. Yoi were so-o-o-o-o- successful in the last two presidential elections.

Just ask President McCain and President Romney.
