Responding to harsh criticism from Tea Party activists and conservatives, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) defended his support of the current immigration bill on the Senate floor Wednesday. He appealed directly to the people who helped him get elected, saying their opinions really matter to me.
Over the last few days, I have received numerous emails and calls from conservatives and tea party activists from across the country regarding immigration, Rubio began. And they are increasingly unhappy about the immigration reform proposal in the Senate. Marco Rubio Defends Himself Against Tea Party Attacks on Senate Floor

He said conservatives are not against the immigration bill because they are anti-immigrant, but rather because they believe the U.S. has a right to secure its borders and a right to enforce federal immigration law.
Rubio defended the Senates immigration bill, claiming that there has been false claims about the legislation.
This proposal mandates the most ambitious border and interior security measures in our nations history, he said. For example, it requires and funds the completion of 700 miles of real border fence, it adds 20,000 new border agents, it details a specific technology plan for each sector of the border, it requires e-Verify for every employer in America and it crates a tracking system to identify people who overstay their visas.
He said people living illegally in the U.S. are already enjoying de-facto amnesty.
To hear the worry, anxiety, and growing anger in the voices of so many people who helped me get elected to the Senate, who I agree with on virtually every other issue, has been a real trial or me, he said.

He lies in exactly the same way that Oblowme does.
It’s sickening. Just straight up, in your face lies.
The real trial for him will be the next election.
Your 15 minutes are up Marco. Hope you enjoyed them. You will never get my vote.
marko...blowing and bowing from right to left....
Has he decoded my message to him yet (”FUMR”)?
That’s the worst part. He’s lying, and he knows it, and doesn’t seem to care.
It’d be one thing if he was honest about the bill and just said that he supports it anyway. At least he’s being honest and I can respect that.
But he keeps blwoing smoke about it requires this and that and he knows full well it does no such thing.
Disappointing
Rubio blowin’ smoke again. He carefully does not disclose that the border agents won’t be hired till 2017 if what I’ve read is correct.
Rubio is dead.
Hey, Rubio, take your d@mned water bottle and GTFO.
Which Marco? Univision? GOP-e? Tea Party?
Stick a fork in this snake. He’s done
I was one of those supporters and I told him what I thought of the Immigration bill.
Is it any coincidence that he takes to the Senate floor the day after Gov Palin says “we are coming after you”?
Defended = obfuscated, tried to defend, deflected.
Mark's interviewing Ted Cruz right now. They both agree Mark (and Ted) ARE saying the truth about this monstrosity. That it DOES NOT strengthen border security, that it's the '86 mistake all over again and gives citizenship first, border security tomorrow.
Glad Mark Levin (finally) called out Rube.
The first thing I noticed about Rubio is how great a speaker he is. I bought into him. I knew all along he was wobbly on immigration but was willing to give him a listen. I’ve since learned he is also a smooth trained liar like Bill Clinton. Different than Romney. Romney waffled around but he was obviously slick and you knew he couldn’t be trusted. Rubio is a much better liar. A natural liar. That concerns me more than his stance on any one issue.
Sorry Rubio, you were not convincing with your repeated lies.
It's like that Star Trek episode:
"To hell with illegals! Deport them all! Whaaa? *cough* *cough*"
"What was that stuff?"
"oh I don't feel so good! Oh my head! My brains feel like they are twisting!!!"
"I see now.....Yes yes...Let's surrender the country to foreign invaders! Yes! Yes! Tell them to alll come in! And we will pay for them! Yes!"
He looks like that 15% drop in the polls yesterday smacked him up the side of the head.
He may not be able to rehabilitate his political career for advancement. That stench from stepping into the Gang of 8 isn’t going to come off.
