So much for the denials. An administration that throughout its 2012 election campaign denied it was waging a War on Coal has now come out and publicly declared its intention to shut down coal-fired power plants putting hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work and sending electricity prices skyrocketing.
This is not what the American people voted for.
Responding to a White House petition to end the War on Coal, the administration said: The President has made clear that he understands that coal has played a critical role in our countrys energy portfolio for decades and will continue to be an important source of energy in the future.
Sycophantic liberal media outlets (like The Nation and the Associated Press) went further, repeatedly claiming that the War on Coal was a myth. The Obama campaign even ran a TV ad in Ohio claiming that Mitt Romney would be bad for coal and trotted out former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland to deny there was a war on coal and echo the attacks on Romney.

Lighter than a paper bag = no energy for you.
He’s their messiah, so they do not care.
What we need is a war on Obama and his henchmen.
On a side note, why do people call it “fossil fuel”?
No, most coal miners are unionized anymore. The UMWA is a shadow of its former self.
And people in West Virginia have two RAT Senators. Because of their United Mine Workers mentality they vote for their own demise.
**NOT unionized**
Not a dilemma for Obama since most coal miners are white and don’t have degrees from leftist universities.
Putting the criminalization of coal into action IS news. There is no Congressional authority for such a move that has ever been presented to the Current Occupant of the White Hut. No plan of taxation, no embargos set for the extraction of coal from mining operations, and apparently, no viable alternatives.
Obama’s ultimately plans to saddle us with expensive, inefficient sources of alternative energy, and then sell the cheap gas, coal and oil to developing countries. That would then turn us into a third world country. In his Kenyan worldview, that’s fairness.
Obama’s coal policy is as duplicitous as the rest of Obama’s policies.
While Obama wages a war against bituminous coal in the East, on privately owned land, he is facilitating and supporting the mining and transportation of sub-bituminous coal in the West, mostly on federally leased landed, owned by Indian tribes. The coal projects in the West are being developed by a list of Obama crony partners, including Richard Trumka, the former head of the United Mine Workers, Goldman Sachs, SSA (which employs Patty Murray’s husband, and the International Longshoremen Workers Union.
Obama is announcing his war on coal as a way to appease his green base for his support of other fossil fuel policies, like the oil and coal trains and the coal terminals in WA and Oregon as well as his support of fracking is certain voter sensitive areas.
The coal industry should just say no to BO.
Your post #5: so true. Why are the repubs not attacking it this way?
Yes, with Obama, it always does come back to your “melanin capital” as your level of worth.
Much coal dates from vegetation deposits of the Carboniferous period, some 360 to 300 million years ago. The coal actually is many fossils. Sometimes the fossils are recognizable as such and sometimes pressure and heat have rendered them unrecognizable. Oil and natural gas are often thought to be similar but recent discoveries suggest it’s more complicated.
That's the only consolation. Any idiot in WV that voted for Machin/Obama deserves to lose their job...
I recall daily how Rove and Cheney viciously called Snowden a traitor. Those two men never have the same vitriol to the Marxist in the White House literally destroying our Republic.
The GOP-e are as equal an enemy to our Republic as the evil left. Their inaction in the face of evil is silent approval.
The sooner Conservatives wake up to the fact that they need to form a new party and leave the GOP, the better the chance to save this Republic before it's too late.
Yes, and the UMW has always been a thoroughly corrupt, evil, communist organization.
OTOH, the three biggest coal producing states (Wyoming, West Virginia, and Kentucky) all voted strongly for McCain/Palin and Romney/Ryan.
I just received two messages from the Sierra Club, the first one was in regard to Obama’s speech, announcing plans for the implementation of his carbon policy and clean energy. The second was a call to action as Congress prepares to vote to approve the Keystone Pipeline.
I told you that the Obama war on coal was simply an organizational method to keep the Greens voting on his side. Obama’s plan is to delay and deny, but first delay as long as possible. The delay allows Obama time to take both sides of every issue and then enable him to claim that he tried but those darned old Republicans just obstructed his every move.
Those accusations were and are bullcrap.
SEE? I TOLD YOU SO!!!
Once again, for the utterly ignorant amongst us: the three biggest coal producing States are (in order) Wyoming, West Virginia and Kentucky. Pennsylvania and Illinois are a very distant fourth and fifth.
Wyoming, West Virginia and Kentucky all voted strongly for McCain/Palin and Romney/Ryan.
So now you know.
You're welcome.
