Hastings, 33, was identified by matching fingerprints to prints the FBI had on file, Corral said.

Bingo!
This guy was likely on the radar given the kinds of stories that he did.
He has also probably been followed and tracked many times which would lend itself to a certain paranoia.
He was onto a big story. He was probably paranoid. He was probably being tracked.
Which leads to the event.
Maybe he was drunk. They are sure pushing the story that he had drug and alcohol problems..but is that even true.

Who speculated publicly? Post #13 is deleted so there is no link to yesterday's thread.
BTW - here is an interesting article that tells more about the man and the views of his colleagues.

It’s very easy to happen. All you need to do is apply for any number of Federal or local governmental jobs or even for a handgun carry permit and you’re likely to have your prints taken. I’m 70 right now. The first time my prints were taken was when I was 18 and applied for a summer job on a railroad. Then there was the Army, then a carry permit, then another job. Having your prints taken in connection with a criminal matter is only one small way they are likely to be taken.
How many Anti-bush reporters died during the Bush 43 Administration? First we have Briebart and now Hastings during the Obama Administration. We live in interesting times. Notice I did not say murdered. It’s just curious that’s all.
What reporter doesn’t have drug and alcohol problems?
If I was a journalist and I had a potentially dangerous story, I’d do what I could to make sure that the story couldn’t die with me.
Wow, a whole thread got deleted from Yesterday about the Cyber Attack Car story.
Just wow.
And my post linking to the thread got deleted.
I must have missed it.... what was it about?
Okay so for those that want to know about Cyber Car attacks..they are real, they are doable, and there are quite a few stories on the internet about it.
Hmmm, can we link to Fox News

In Texas, it’s mandantory to finger print for driver’s licenses. Yeah, I was shocked when I had to give mine last time I renewed it.
No way any bit of finger prints survived that enferno. If there was any question between this being an accident and a hit, I think we just got that answered. No way will I believe the toxicology report when it comes out, either.
Watching that video, they turned a CORNER.....at least ONE CORNER......the car was going pretty fast....how did it turn that corner??? VERY SUSPICIOUS...the Video, the Sheriff car....hmmmmmm
I am pretty sure it was a Pat Dollard site talking about the Huff Po article.
So if Huffpo gets an interview and it is talked about on Fox News..we can’t link to Fox news????
it’s not a Sheriff’s car.
It’s paparazzi. They claim they were investigating a tip on Justin Beiber at the time that didn’t pan out.
I wouldn't tell anyone about it and wouldn't sit on it very long. Don't give the evil doers time to stage a car crash or a heart attack.
NOT the video car.....watch the video, when the video car shows up, a car ( I think it’s a Sheriff’s SUV) pulls up going the opposite direction.....plus there is another vehicle to the right.
