Jan Brewer: This Gang of Eight bill is a victory for Arizona

Ready for the kicker?

Discussing #immigration and why border security MUST come first on this issue in 25 minutes on @FoxNews #AZ #tcot

— Jan Brewer (@GovBrewer) June 24, 2013

Stupidity or something worse? Border security doesn’t “come first” in the Gang of Eight bill, of course; it comes before green-card eligibility but after probationary legalization, which is why Rand Paul, for instance, can’t support it. Illegals are granted a legal claim to staying here before anything happens on the border. Which leaves three possibilities. One: Brewer’s confused about what the bill says. That seems … doubtful. She’s the governor of a border state; almost no one is more interested in finding out precisely what the bill says than she is. Two: Brewer’s deliberately misleading the public at the behest of national Republicans who need prominent so-called “border hawks” like her to reassure low-information (a.k.a. dumb) GOPers that the bill is awesome. That seems likelier, although I believe Brewer’s term-limited as governor and therefore doesn’t really need anything from the national leadership. She could go her own way if she wanted to. Which brings us to number three: She supports the bill on the merits because, like Marco Rubio, she’s not as much of a border hawk as she pretended to be when running for office three years ago. By the same token, how many conservatives who voted for her thought she’d be a fan of ObamaCare? We have, it seems, been misled. Again.

Which brings me to the larger point. I honestly can’t believe how many Republican pols backing the bill lied, and lied brazenly, about being stalwart border hawks as candidates in order to get elected. Rubio, Dean Heller, Kelly Ayotte, Jan Brewer — hell, even McCain ran, ridiculously, as some sort of immigration hard-ass to get back to the Senate in 2010. Before the party tears itself apart over immigration reform in the House, can we have a moment of unity at least over the fact that immigration moderates shouldn’t lie about their moderation as candidates? Right? Respect your constituents enough to give them a fully informed choice in the booth by stating your opinion about a momentous issue of policy honestly. As it is, we’re being asked to believe that somehow every one of these people, from Rubio on down, has had precisely the same epiphany about what needs to be done on immigration, and in each case it was only after being safely elected that they had it. That’s some coincidence. No one but no one on the GOP side ever sees the virtue of “legalization first” policies and “comprehensive” reform in the middle of the campaign; only afterward, when they’ve gained incumbency and the support of monied national Republican interests, do they somehow attain enlightenment. Virtually no one talks about the status quo being “de facto amnesty” until after they’ve made it to Washington; as candidates, you’re much more likely to hear them say that an “earned path to citizenship is basically code for amnesty,” as Marco Rubio once infamously did. If you take these very conveniently timed reversals at face value (which you shouldn’t), then at best it means the people now leading the GOP effort on reform simply didn’t think deeply or at any length about this subject as candidates. Candidate Rubio thought earned citizenship equalled amnesty, but that’s only because he cared so little about the nuts and bolts of the issue that he didn’t spend 10 minutes thinking hard on it until he got elected, whereupon he suddenly discovered that amnesty is actually what we have now. This is the guy we’re supposed to follow on this issue?

These people lie to you, shamelessly, to get elected, and then betray your interests while in office to stay elected. They have the sheerest contempt for your opinion. Keep that in mind when the champagne corks are popping on the Hill today after the big Senate vote.

Here in L.A., the Korean, Japanese, Armenian neighborhoods are kept clean. Now which areas look like a 3rd world sh*thole? The Aztlan occupied areas..

Doesn’t Obamuzzie still have a couple hundred billion $’s in TARP money in his stash? Ought to be enough there alone to buy a lot of weasel skin. Money is the only thing that can really explain the gyrations of some of our misleaders. There can’t possibly be enough fratboy videos, etc. to explain all the flipflopping?

In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Jan Brewer: This Gang of Eight bill is a victory for Arizona, Jim Robinson wrote:
Well, it is a victory for Aztlan:
The sad thing is Jim they haven’t even broached the subject. Buchannan has but when he was on Hannity’s radio show today 6/24/ that wasn’t brought up. And when the subject is posted here in FR’s particularly since the Schummer threat. Posters should be pulling up pix of previous protests replete with Mexican flags. Bet none will be seen.

Find it strange when the excuse is being given that while the government knows whats going on in 300 million citizens lives but because the illegals are not citizens and in “the shadows” according to Florida’s Senator Rubio the US doesn’t know who they are or where they’re comming from so we must make them citizens..

THE QUESTION IS SENATORS AND CONGRESS MEMBERS ...WHY ARE YOU SO SET ON IMPORTING LOW WAGE LABORERS MAINLY FROM ONE COUNTRY WHICH TAKE UP JOBS OUR YOUTH COULD BE PERFORMING AND HURTING THE BLACK AMERICAN JOB MARKET ?

FR’s ; are urged to visit their respective Congressional Representatives and let them know their feelings

WHEN IT COMES TO AMNESTY

THIS IS THE MEXICAN PART NO ONE DARES MENTION

If you agree with the above and the following please don’t let it lay here in FR-land. Pass it on to to your favorite talk show host and to your US legislators. PUSH THE HASTERT RULE.

ONE NATIONALITY AMNESTY SKEWS QUOTAS. HURTS OTHERS FROM SOUTH AMERICA, AND SKILLED LABOR QUOTAS FROM OTHER NATIONS ...WORSE YET OFFERING AMNESTY FOR NATIONALS FROM A COUNTRY THAT HAS CLAIMS ON OUR NATIONAL TERRITORY THAT COULD AND HAS TURNED INTO PROBLEMS FOR BORDER STATES CLAIMED BY MEXICO .

In that May 3rd speech Obama gave before the Mexican Anthropological Museum in which he blamed America for the violence in Mexico I believe he went even futhur. There’s a inference but never referenced by name to the Gasden purchase and border settlements US made with Mexico where Obama hinted he seems to side with the Mexican claims. Would those in attendence share that view is a question that should be asked, because I believe they would,.he does.

SOLVING THE ‘LATINO” PROBLEM A MYTH HISPANIC IS NOT A RACE BUT A POLITICAL LINGUISTIC CONTRIVANCE ...don’t fall into the hyphenated Americans trap created by the hyphenated political party ...The DEMO-COMS

The Mexicans have been getting most favorable treatment above the rest of our neighbors both north and south. They’re permitted to cross our borders and enter illegally and are allowed access to rights of citizenship (with the exception of voting which if the democrat party regains control over the House will happen) other nationals entering this country don’t get.. Worse yet the Obama government has been working hand in glove with Mexican movements such as LaRaza supporting the Mexican claims which are also supporting “Amnesty”.

Also by allowing Mexicans to do this any quota ration for immigration from other south and central American countrys are taken up by Mexicans while that country is laying claim to a large chunk of our sovereign territory is a recipe for later serious problems which are happening now.

ARE MEXICAN ILLEGALS SQUATTERS PERPETUATING THE MEXICAN CLAIMS ?

We are already seeing the result of this in certain areas claimed by the Mexicans. Their national flag (standard) gets displayed over ours. Where there is a controlling number of Mexican nationals (illegals). It’s displayed over certain institutions particularly schools accompanied by riots and disturbances. Blacks are threatend by Mexicans in certain sections of citys in those areas. We’re courting trouble by not placing a value on our sovereignty and our citizenship.

MOST COINS OF THE REALM HAVE TWO FACES WHAT ABOUT HOW ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS LIVING IN MEXICO BEING TREATED ?

Worse yet if a US citizen goes into Mexico never mind illegaly but legally. They’ll get 2nd class treatment. Land ownership in title is prohibited period. And there are a slew of regulations they must comply with. Which doesn’t apply to a citizen of Mexico

THE SOLUTION ASSERT OUR SOVEREIGNTY AND TALK RECIPROCITY .

By not insisting on reciprocity particularly on those who have entered this country illegally we’re offering no incentive for assimilation and we’re not easing the burden for our fellow citizens who for what ever reason decided to live in Mexico.

ENOUGH OF THE ONE WORLD SOCIALISM ...BRING BACK SOVEREIGNTY AND SANITY TO OUR COUNTRY .....BRING BACK BELIEF IN GOD ...THIS GOVERNMENT OUT OUR FACE..... OUR RELIGIONS..... AND OUR BEDROOMS..

That’s a good sum-up, Sal. My wife an I took an instant dislike to her when we first met her. I’m glad about the good gun laws she signed, but she started vetoing at a most inappropriate time. There are places in Tempe I am forbidden to drive.

Maybe the GOP has run its course. I’m thinking the GOP needs the old 0bamacare Death Panel treatment if we are unable to purge it of the RINOs who will be vulnerable in 2014. Defeat them at primary or suicide vote them out in the general, but we must be rid of them. Yes, I own it—I pushed hard for people to vote Romney after he won the primary because at least he wasn’t the malevolent 0bama, and I still believe it to have been the right position in that instance, but these entrenched SOBs and new turncoats are killing us with thousands of little cuts; all to the back, and coming at a seemingly increasing tempo. If we can’t get rid of the political bedbugs, it might just be the time to burn the blighted house to the ground and rebuild. To Hell with the GOP if it will not fight for the America the Founders and so many others bled for. I say this as a lifelong Republican who is increasingly open to becoming a future former Republican.

Jane Long ~ Yep. Looks like she’s doing the Corker Amendment side-step...under the guise of a *border security surge*.

How is this a victory for Arizona for border security ??
What kind of CRACK is she smoking ?

http://www.sessions.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressShop.NewsReleases&ContentRecord_id=789acab8-a06d-4358-4a84-e5980c7dce05&IsPrint=true

BACKGROUND ON CORKER-HOEVEN SUBSTITUTE AMNESTY-FIRST IMMIGRATION BILL:
· Immediate amnesty before enforcement
· Guts legal requirement for biometric exit-entry system
· Millions of green cards (permanent residency) before enforcement—debunking another false claim from sponsors
· No border surge. Agents aren’t required until 2021. It will never happen
· No fence requirement. DHS retains discretion in the bill that preempts the call for a fence in ten years. Litigation also provides an escape hatch to never build the fence. The fence won’t happen
· Legalization for gang members and convicted criminals
· Amnesty for future visa overstays (in other words, a prospective amnesty for future illegal immigrants)
· Guaranteed welfare access for illegal immigrants
· Undermines interior enforcement, prompting ICE officers to warn: “There is no doubt that, if passed, public safety will be endangered and massive amounts of future illegal immigration—especially visa overstays—is ensured.”
· Expands non-merit chain migration—less than 10 percent of future flow is merit-based
· Doubles the number of guest workers and triples the number of immigrants granted lawful permanent residency—reducing wages for U.S. workers and driving up unemployment

That's a question for Brewer. This entire list needs to be sent to her with an "APPROVED" by Gov Brewer stamp on it.

I listened in on a tele-town hall this evening with Sen Sessions. He brought up most of these points. Thanks for this list.

We KNOW for a fact that everyone is under government scrutiny. The only way to explain a lot of these votes is blackmail.

The only question is “Are there no politicians who CAN’T be blackmailed?”

Over 90 percent of the Republicans we have elected are business as usual politicians and have no conservative principles or any other kind of principles for that matter.

They say what they have to say and pass symbolic and meaningless legislation that gets shot down by a court like SB 1070 in AZ, 20 week limits on abortions and the list goes on.....

Conservatives should put egos aside and have two willing candidates.

One runs in the GOP primary and the other third party in the general if the RINO wins the primary.

I would like to vote for someone in both elections as well as against someone.
