There is a difference between the Wikileaks leaks and the Obama / NSA leaks and that is that the Obama snooping involves ordinary people, not politically elite, or those with foreign Al Qaeda connections. The way the snooping was conducted under Bush, most of us felt pretty secure that our own communications were not being monitored by the government.

The bigger problem now, though, is that the Obama administration has already proven that nothing is below them, that they will stop at nothing and that the abuse of power is a regular method of operation. Obama uses his union minions to do the dirty work for him and does not leave his fingerprints on any of it, unless it involves an executive order. Most of the time, Obama only has to use a dog whistle to direct his union workers.

After speaking to the many expats that live there, we are told only minimal spanish is needed to get by. Wifes spanish is a little rusty but I am sure it will all come back to her in a short period.

I’m not sure why anyone thought Iceland was even in the cards.

There is an article on Drudge that I haven’t read yet, that says that the FISA courts do not follow the law, they are above it.

Snowden knew Assange has a base there...so a “safe” haven of sorts...and initially they were working the ground there for him.

Hastings was dangerous because he was looking into botched shipments of American arms out of Benghazi

He was ?

He was looking into events surrounding the Benghazi cover-up. The Benghazi cover-up is well documented.

What was being covered up can only be speculated upon.

That is the best speculation which has some basis in fact.

Iceland is a small country dependent on exports to Western countries. Even with a place like Venezuela, he would have to be worried about being swapped in exchange for a deal to allow more Citgo stations to open, or something like that.

Wonder if obama will send fighters to intercept and force it to land here?

If that happens, maybe Jarrett would let him dust off his military uniform!

Hong Kong officials said Mr Snowden had left "on his own accord for a third country through a lawful and normal channel" because the US extradition request was incomplete and there was no legal basis to restrict him from departing.

Perhaps it was incomplete by design?

Yes, I wonder if Snowden realized it? Or if this is part of his strategy, perhaps.

I agree. Snowden is my hero for disclosing that it is not our government spying on us, but a corporation making a profit. The media doesn’t say much about that aspect because they are in the same club. They profit by screwing us too.

When corporations have a profit motive to screw the people, just as they do with speed or red light cameras, and bribing judges to send more inmates to private prisons, our freedom and democracy are hanging by a mere thread. Katrina had private contractors taking firearms from LA citizens. Fascism is here now.

No kidding!

It has already been discussed, in that thread, that he’s heading to Ecuador. You have to read past headlines to get more information.

I can’t make logic out of this story. The bottom line is that It looks like no one respects Obama, and I wonder if that is the whole point..

One can trust Russians to be Russians, and Putin has a prize in hand.

In other words, Snowden isn't getting out of Russia for some time ... if ever.

Stay tuned.

Good observation.

Sad news is that America might go down forever ... thanks to Obama and Obamanites.

Money may have something to do with it.....Ecuador currency is the US dollar........he would not have to worry about currency conversion....and easier to get him funds while in ECU

Who knows what Snowdens realized, ..I see him as the puppet of Assange so it really doesn’t make a difference in my assessment of him...either way he is a traiter... regardless of the immature and childish motives he’s given....his actions now have confirmed that he is.

Assange is one bad character if you look into his motives and thinking...unfortunately he’s an incrediably intelligent man who masks his intentions by manipulating his listeners...and he’s masterful at doing so....when in fact his desire is to interfer with leaders diplomacy, outcomes of wars and BE an actor on the World Stage.

He seeks the very same “Power” he accuses Government Leaders of.

Snowdens just one of his followers he’s managed to recruit and willingly so..they share many similar ideals.
