DAYTON, Ohio A plane carrying a wing walker crashed at an air show and exploded into flames Saturday, killing the pilot and stunt walker instantly, authorities said.
The crash of the 450 HP Stearman happened at around 12:45 p.m. at the Vectren Air Show at Dayton International Airport. No spectators were hurt.
A video posted on WHIO-TV shows the plane turn upside-down as the performer sits on top of the wing. The plane then tilts and crashes to the ground, erupting into flames as spectators screamed.
Ian Hoyt, an aviation photographer and licensed pilot from Findlay, was at the show with his girlfriend. He told The Associated Press he was taking photos as the plane passed by and had just raised his camera to take another shot.

Maybe, but it could also have been a broken control.
R.I.P.
Some of these sports can be pretty daring. It raises philosophical questions of why man does what he does. Ultimately it traces to spirituality. Psychology can only tell us how, spirituality tells us why.

Looks to me like he was having trouble and tried to roll out of the inverted position but didnt have enough altitude.
Very sad .... RIP
I’m sure they had done this numerous times before. It seems that trouble would be met with more power at that point, we may never know.
The stunt is entertaining but allows no room for error. The pilot and his wing walker died doing what they loved to do. May they rest in peace.
damn shame... VERY pretty girl RIP
She had two sons too.
You can tempt fate all you like, but in the end everyone obeys the laws of physics. Perhaps someone can explain why a rational person would participate in such stunts. Truly brave people simply do not behave that way.
Turns out the her ex-husband was the pilot and she was enganged to “Rock” her mechanic. All theories aside, their children lost both parents.
even worse
Oh, how sad! A wing-walker whom we had seen perform here died a couple of years ago, after being burned when the plane’s engine caught fire. What an incredibly dangerous occupation!
As someone said below, we can only guess why people do this.
Couldn’t pay me to watch such an idiotic thing.
so sad,,, we were at this same airshow last year...
Just got back from an air show.
I must admit, some of the stunts are nuts.
Damn shame.
The Dayton airshow is a goody.
