Exclusive: Hastings Sent Colleagues Email Hours Before Crash (WOW)
KTLA ^ | June 21, 2013

Posted on 06/21/2013 10:56:51 AM PDT by SE Mom

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — The crash that killed journalist Michael Hastings was ruled an accident by police, but conspiracy theories continued to circulate on Friday.

Hastings, 33, was killed in a fiery solo-vehicle crash in Hancock Park early Tuesday morning.

...Staff Sgt. Joseph Biggs told KTLA that he received an email from Hastings on Monday.

Biggs had known Hastings since 2008, when the journalist was embedded in his unit in Afghanistan.

“On Monday morning, I woke up and I got an email, and it’s very panicked,” Biggs said.

He was blind-copied on the email, which was sent to Hastings’ colleagues.

In part, it said that the feds were interviewing his close friends and associates, and that he was onto a big story and needed to get off the radar.

The FBI has denied that Hastings was ever under investigation.

“It alarmed me very much,” Biggs said. “I just said it doesn’t seem like him. I don’t know, I just had this gut feeling and it just really bothered me,” he said.

The email was sent just before 1 p.m. on Monday, 15 hours before the deadly crash.

Breaking news photographer Scott Lane happened to be less than a mile from the scene of the crash, and shot video of the fiery aftermath.

Video taken from his car’s dashcam also caught what appeared to be Hastings’ Mercedes minutes before the crash, speeding through a red light.

More than 30 seconds pass after Hastings’ car goes by, and no other cars pass through the intersection.

“There’s no cars that are following him,” Lane said. “He flies by and 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds goes by… No cars are following him.”

I love the Russian dashcam videos. There’s some crazy things going on in Russia. And some nice ones too.

I won’t drive less than a 6 no matter how much they ‘turbo charge’ them. When I step on it I want it gone.
I test drove a C250 and the engine is too small for me. I moved up to the E350 to be satisfied and actually am negotiating an Suv right now.

If you’re in that league, go all the way. Get a Range Rover Supercharged, O-60 in five seconds, and it’ll give you a massage.

Too big. Actually the only reason we are looking at an SUV is that hubby’s back is getting so bad he can hardly get in and out of my car. The SUV will be his.

Range Rover Sport Supercharged is same size as a Toyota Highlander.

Just for entry/exit Toyota Rav-4, Ford Taurus, Volvo XC60, even Honda Element and Nissan Cube!

I also say Breightbarted.

I wonder what KGB drugs there are that might cause a psychotic self destructive episode?
Perfect since it both discredits and eliminates “problems” like a whistle blower.

The limmo was licensed for 8 passenger.

There were 9 passengers and 5 died...4 and the driver survived with burns.

No, but you should always look before going through an intersection. Red lights don’t stop cars.

Hackers Find Ways to Remotely Control Cars, Terror to Ensue

Engadget is reporting that a team of researchers have discovered a way to hack the onboard computer of certain cars. Once the hackers are in, they can access the car’s computer wirelessly, even while driving in another car next to the hacked vehicle. They can then affect the car by turning on hazard lights, flashing the brights, and even rolling down the windows. Or they could disable the brakes and lock the engine while you are driving at speed, sending you to a horrible death.

More at link.

That looks like a fun little car man.
I like how you maintained the “sleeper” look.
on the track vid your idling engine was shaking the windows in my house!!

Does the lower air density of Colorado affect the performance of the car?

High Plains Raceway is 4600 msl. That is thick air for a Denver resident. Once the trubo kicks in it feels just as fast at 10000 feet as it does at “normal” 5600 feet at home. Off powerband power is soggy at 10000 feet.

Car going like a bat out of hell, brake lights are ON, car is not slowing.

You sure it is all that and not simply someone cut his brakes and chased him until he was up to speed, then left him alone?

That’s what it looks like to me.

Don’t know where else to put this, but I haven’t seen this info posted anywhere else. So for the record:

Tues June 25, 2013 America Live - Megyn Kelly with Sgt. Joe Biggs (friend of Hastings) :

“His friends and family, they knows him-—Everyone says he drives like a grandma....There’s no way he would be acting erratic like that and driving that out of control.”

Biggs also said that Hastings’ wife said today [June 25] that Hastings was not investigating Jill Kelly.
