The Tea Party Returns

By ABBY D. PHILLIP (@abbydphillip) June 21, 2013

Opposition to President Obama's healthcare law catapulted the Tea Party to national prominence three years ago, and now anger over the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative groups may be serving as a tipping point for a Tea Party revival.

And in the House of Representatives, where the movement's most ardent supporters reside, their influence is already being felt.

Most recently, the Republican-sponsored farm bill failed to pass through the House on Thursday in part due to Republican opposition to funding the food stamps program, now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. And earlier this week, House Speaker John Boehner caved to pressure from Tea Party-backed lawmakers on immigration reform.

Taken together, the farm bill's failure and Boehner's concession to anti-immigration-reform segments of his party appear to imperil the prospects for any bi-partisan legislation in the House — either on immigration or upcoming debt ceiling negotiations.

"This is the first time in months I've seen House conservatives full of energy and excitement. Farm bill defeat has encouraged them," said conservative pundit Erik Erikson on Twitter minutes after the bill went down, delivering a blow to Republican leaders in the House.

"I'm satisfied with the outcome," Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder and national coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots. "With the way that the SNAP program is integrated into the farm bill, it's more government spending and we just need better control of government spending."

Lawmakers in Washington are emboldened by the growing sense of alarm within the Tea Party, which is still a relatively diffuse group of state or local-based groups that has managed to coalesce around a common opposition to the Washington establishment.

...but now we know it was IRS intimidation, which will come back to haunt the Rats. I hope.

They've already trotted out their "Bush did it first" NSA psychopath.

Keep it up............The Rat's really fear this.

By virtue of the fact that the big O administration attacked the Tea Parties via the IRS demonstrates who they really fear. The outing of the IRS scandal will just embolden such groups to rally in now and into 2014. For the IRS to withhold tax-exempt status for these groups at this point is to invite more criminal allegations.

I happened to glance at this Yahoo article from Wednesday. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-berlin-not-yet-done-135007185.html

The comments below the article are hilarious! I don’t normally think of Yahoo readers as being very conservative, but EVERY single one of them was super negative - many very witty and all just totally trashing Obama. From the comments, all the stuff that has happened, the NSA scandals, the IRS, everything is really getting out there. Since I mostly get my news from FR, I was thinking maybe people in the mainstream world were not hearing about all these things.

I scrolled way down thru several pages and did not see one positive comment. I hope this is an indication that people are finally waking up to what a tyrant he is. Hope and pray that feeling will continue to mount up and people will get active and involved with the tea party.

He silenced the TP for the 2012 election, which pleased the liberal media because they though it meant their nemesis was dead, but now we know it was IRS intimidation, which will come back to haunt the Rats. I hope.

The IRS thingie did not silence the Tea Party for the 2012 elections. It sure had a pretty defecating (word correct gave me that word for devastating lol) impact, But myself and many others were traveling across this nation working hard with tea partiers all along the route to do what we could to help conservatives get elected.

I stand corrected. To these Media Mafioso, money raised and spent on advertising in their venues is all that matters, and that’s where the IRS hurt us. I didn’t mean to imply we had given up. The foot-soldiers like us never gave up, but the media don’t look at us, only the paying advertisers.

We can show up in DeeCee by the tens of thousands and if you only watch the alphabets, it didn’t happen.

No, they are usually infested with people paid by the Obama campaign. You can tell, because they post the same thing over and over again, like they are reading from a script.

For now, they aren't getting paid, so they have gone back to watching TV.

Buckeye McFrog ~:” Well, Obama won’t get away with more IRS harassment of the Tea Party. Not with everyone still watching...”

Do you mean that its over ?
I havent heard of any new non-profit approvals comming from the IRS , just more of the same !
The IRS hasen’t changed their arrogant aloofness , at least not since the last “Easter Egg Roll “
Nor have I heard of a change in policy , or guidance ..

What I have heard is that Mitch Mc Connell ( RHINO elite ) says that it is time to move on to other things.
Mc Connell is content with the results of the Investigator General ~ which is pablum
So as far as the RHINO elite are concerned , the situation has been exposed ;
there has been no prosecution or investigation even above the level of an audit once the results pointed towards Washington!!

As long as the IRS scandle continues to suppress the Tea Party Conservatives , he’s happier than a pig in sh*t / mud !!
And the RHINO elite can continue to assist in the sacking of the country !

for the last money, illegal aliens have been being guided through the senate office buildings. (it looks like the parking lot of home depot)

The lobbyists have been working 2x time to push the anecdotes and not facts. They have little mexican migrant worker hats, straw hats and spanish translators.

shrimp stature schumer (he is very very very short) has been a good leutenant for this Obama Amnesty plan.

Hay buddy you made some good points in your post, sorry I didn't mention them in my last post:
No, he won’t be punished for it and I think that sucks. But, he failed in destroying the Tea Party. If anything, he’s made the situation much worse because of the IRS mess.
Every attempt to stifle conservative thoughts and actions backfires on them every time.

It's like cutting up a worm. (They have 8 hearts, so eight worm sections makes 8 worms out of one. About the only fact I remember from biology in HS LOL)

The conservative movement is growing, as well as the Tea Party Movement.

They may kill some of us, but there are way to many to kill us all.

The foot-soldiers like us never gave up...

We can show up in DeeCee by the tens of thousands and if you only watch the alphabets, it didn’t happen.

You got that right we never gave up and won't.

We are a BIG thorn in their side for sure.

I can't count the number of times the MSM has said the Tea Party is dead, and then report on something a faction of them did. Idjets!

The libs will never give up trying to marginalize us, it's their favorite tool to use. They love to talk up their proud record for minorities (HAH!), yet also love to claim we're just a tiny minority and therefore worthless.

You got that right we never gave up and won't.

We can't. Libs don't get this: It's impossible to speak as we do of Freedom and Liberty, then walk away from them because it's too hard. Liberals and pretend conservatives can. In fact, it's how we find the posers among us. I secretly think it's why Jim Rob tolerates the occasional flame-fests around here.

I wish I could share your optimism, but I suspect that the people who actually read the piece you refer to constitute a very small group, just as we FReepers do. The vast majority of the public is more interested in news about sports and entertainment figures.

...the Republican-sponsored farm bill failed to pass through the House on Thursday in part due to Republican opposition to funding the food stamps program, now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

Yep, the Tea Party is authentically grass roots and dispersed, which I think is a little unsettling to liberals.

Re: “Carpet bombing??”

Don’t put anything past this mob.

Remember; Neither Geneva convention ROW nor ROEs will apply to US when this aspiring global dictator decides to drop the hammer on dissenting domestic peasants.

You think that Bashar Asshat plays hard core in Syria?; you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!

They might not have a clue where 11 million plus foreign invaders are, but they know where you and I live, who we vote for and support, which team we root for, what we post here, what our e mails are about, who we hang out with and right where to find us at any given time.

There is a reason for all that scrutiny, you know.
Soon, I’m afraid, it will become painfully obvious.

They usually use an Anglo first and last name, also. Like “Jeffrey Edwards.” If you have the scripted, unemotional post and the nondescript first, last name, it’s like a bell ringing. Not many people use their real names on forum boards and certainly not a first and last name.
