In a defeat for Republican leadership, the House on Thursday rejected a sweeping farm bill, amid opposition from both sides of the aisle.
More than 60 House Republicans defected and voted against the half-trillion-dollar bill, which sets funding for farm subsidies and other assistance as well as food stamps.
The vote was 234-195 against the bill.
This bill was a nightmare.
It was 80 PERCENT FOOD STAMPS.
This shouldn’t have been called a “farm” bill...
Could this be a sign of people’s mood.. when they try and pass immigration?
Maybe congress is finally in a mood to fight.
Hope so!
Time to get tough!
Was corn mentioned (in the bill) as being for eating or drinking and not to be used as fuel?
Who knew that urban handouts were the same as agriculture?
Constitutionally, the Fed Govt should have nothing to do with dirt, plants, critters, land or farmers. This is state business.
Not sure!
Good question though
What took them so long.
Hurray! Looks like some GOP are trying to maintain a spine. Good job!
Cue the Al Franken empassioned plea...
Yep!
We need to make our voices heard on crap like this more often!
99.99% of bills are just more govenrment , more 3rd world immigrants and more donations for the democrat party.
bills and laws are the problems . don't pass anymore and repeal those already passed like the 1965 immigration act and Obamacare
Boehner and Cantor probably.
But, did it fail because not enough was being spent, or because it was too big?
Personally, I say scrap everything within the bill. Let states handle their own welfare programs.
Bet there was money in the bill for EBT cards for illegals. Now that this is dead, I wonder if the Immigration bill will suddenly lose steam.
99.99% of bills are just more government , more 3rd world immigrants, more individual rights taken away, and more donations for the democrat party.most laws just empower government and dis-empower the individual

Because it was too big.. and had a bunch of crap in it.
