The time for climate action is now
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 20, 2013 | Editorial

Posted on 06/20/2013 7:35:25 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Early predictions made by climate scientists — back when much of the nation was still dubious about any kind of greenhouse effect and many denied it existed — are coming true even more quickly than expected.

...And that's worth remembering when President Obama releases his expected proposal for reducing the carbon footprint, which will almost surely include new restrictions for coal-burning plants, the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases. Adjusting to climate change will require clear thinking and significant investment, but if the nation sticks its collective head in the sand, it will find that sand covered by rising seas.

Is the Times saying he faked his flop-sweat to try and make his point that the globe is getting really, really hot?

War is peace.

Freedom is slavery.

Ignorance is strength.

Early predictions made by climate scientists are coming true even more quickly than expected.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

Here’s what gets me about global warming:

1. The earth’s climate has changed many times in history. During the last ice age, Chicago was buried under a mile of ice. Clearly we have had global warming since then, which was part of a natural cycle. It had nothing to do with man, since Cro-magnon Man did not have coal fired power plants.

2. We don’t fully understand the natural cycles involved with climate. And we don’t fully understand how much man may have contributed to this. But we do know that climate has changed many times prior to the Industrial Revolution.

3. Even if we want to say, for sake of argument, that man is significantly impacting the climate, what exactly should be done about this? Doesn’t there have to be a cost/benefit review of any proposed actions? How does cap and trade help, for example? The same amount of “evil” CO2 is allowed to be emitted. It just that now somebody is paying for the permission to emit same.

4. Even if enlightened liberals take control of governments in western countries and adopt policies to cut back emissions, what exactly do they propose to do about China and India emitting such high levels of pollutants as those countries industrialize? We have no control over policies adopted by other countries.

That is a bald faced lie. The opposite is true. It’s why the scientists are having a credibility crisis right now.

Why don't “FACTS” matter to these so called climate scientists? Greenland ice cores. No computer model, actual REAL samples from the past.

Man made global warming isn't happening.

Man could do nothing about it even “if” it were.

Mankind is a molecule on a pimple on the earth's arse.

God is in control, not man.

OMG! The climate is changing as I type this. When I got up the temp was 43. Now it’s already 50. The wind was calm and now it’s starting to pick up. Whatever shall we do? Dang Toto, this ain’t Kansas anymore. If we believe king hussein and algore I should have beach front property before long. And I’m at around 5200 feet.

Perhaps The Los Angeles Times can tear down their building and replace it with an organic garden that the 'former' editorial board members can volunteer to tend.

re your item #3 on Cap and Trade:

Cap and Trade is a device to ensure MORE carbon in the atmostphere, not less (I am a global warming skeptic, at least regarding an anthropogenic basis of any magnitude). Persons, companies, countries, etc. who have the right to put a certain level of carbon into the air but who have NO intention of doing so are encourage to sell that right to those who clearly WILL do so. An honest environmentalist would support simply limiting the amount of carbon each entity can put into the atmosphere, and make that amount non-alienable (i.e., you can’t sell the right).

You are right. The wind was calm 10 minutes ago, and now it is 10 mph. AT THIS RATE, in less than two hours there will be 100 mph constant winds!!!

Run for your lives!!!
