Watch for requirements to be pushed down to a commission or other administrative body rather than specified in law.

But yesterday Rubio claimed that ONLY THIS amendment will "make sure that they do not leave border security up to the discretion of Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. “We don't want to leave it to Janet Napolitano to design the border plan,” said Rubio, which is also the reason he gave for not supporting earlier border security measures."

Really cutesy move by Rubio to pretend he is against what Nappy and O are doing. Rubio has told many lies.

I want both, but you are missing my point. Even if we got the fence you want (never mind that 40% of the illegals got here legally and overstayed their visas), it will not make this bill acceptable.

The porous border is bad, but almost tripling legal immigration over the next 10 years, i.e., 47 million and doubling our guest worker programs while 22 million Americans are looking for full-time employment are far more dangerous to the existence of our Republic.

if they;re small then why not immigration from Europe which has more skilled workers like Docs, oh and I believe what I see and who I know and what I have experienced.

Where have you been? The Immigration Act of 1965 abolished national origin act and opened up immigration to the rest of the world at the expense of Europe.

The 1965 Immigration Act: Anatomy of a Disaster

Foreign-born doctors make up almost 25% of all doctors in the US. 23% of our foreign doctors come mainly from Southwest Asia (read India), 11% from the Middle East, 9% from Southern and Northern Europe, 8% from the Philippines, 8% from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, and 6% from Central Europe including Russia.

Why we bring in unskilled workers who look to do welfare is beyond me but then again the left wants this because it means more on the dole and more to depend on the new God for them which for them is the Govt

It's the law. We have a kinship based system of immigration, not a merit based one. Australia and Canada have merit based systems.

I know many who moved to OZ and they had to go through that merit system and I think it would work better here than letting in third world non educated immigrants in.

I suspect we are men without power seeking a way to stop something with which we vehemently disagree.

The immigration issue certainly, but for me the culture.

A depression might shock the nation out of its narcissism, but it’s likely that we’re headed for another dark ages from which freedom might again emerge some hundreds of years in the future.

Of course, the Lord could say “Time’s up!” and “descend from heaven with a shout...”

Viewing Table 1 as a chart shows the trend, particularly for Mexico and Europe.

Slow path to progress for U.S. immigrants: 43% on welfare after 20 years

The study, which covers all immigrants, legal and illegal, and their U.S.-born children younger than 18, found that immigrants tend to make economic progress by most measures the longer they live in the U.S. but lag well behind native-born Americans on factors such as poverty, health insurance coverage and homeownership.

The study, based on 2010 and 2011 census data, found that 43 percent of immigrants who have been in the U.S. at least 20 years were using welfare benefits, a rate that is nearly twice as high as native-born Americans and nearly 50 percent higher than recent immigrants.

Someone here’s been highlighting that particular Rubio scam for a while HA-HA. I listen to their words very carefully.

Its critical for him to convince gullible Rs that Dems+O will hate to get it passed. Of course its ALSO critical that Dems LIKE it to get it passed. So that leaves Rubio with deceit as his sole option.
A huge threat to that is if we realize an amnesty bill would be a huge legacy win for Obama, up there with the Bin Laden Kill.(much bigger in a way)

Those are his big legacy items however Immigration will(would) certainly be a huge winner for him, wrt popularity and time, and progressive objectives.

Obama-care has so many negatives that it is uncertain how it will play out but your negativity is justified. Many freebees in that bill.

Marco Rubio, 2009:

“I am strongly against amnesty. The most important thing we need to do is enforce our existing laws."

The about face that man has done is truly amazing. You just have to wonder what sort of pressure was put upon him to make him stab his entire constituency in the back like that.

Or - was he lying to everyone from the very start?

Doesn't really matter how he got to where he is - only that he's there now. He may as well jump ship and join the Democrat party. They own him now.

You and I agree completely. As repulsive as I find Charlie Crist, he might have done less damage. Rubio had me fooled at first, but I have no patience with amnesty-pushing legislators.

Rubio pretending Nappy wouldn't like it, incredible. What's not to like for Nappy?

This is a “STRAW DOG” in order to make this bill more pallitable to these “REPUBLICANS” that are sitting on the fence. Tell everyone, “THIS IS A BAD BILL” and it should be scrapped, and start again, with the intention of “PROTECTING OUR BORDERS”. (period). I have suggested to these “PEA HENS” in Washington, a bill, only 1/2 a page long, that will accomplish everything that more than 80% of the population will accept.
1) Fine every corporation or individual $5,000/illegal they hire.
2) Use our legal citizens to point out who these people are, that are hiring illegals, and pay them $1,000/illegal
3) Use the rest of the fine$4,000/illegal, to send them back to where they came from
Children of illegals born here are US citizens.
There, that only took 1/2 a page and is very understandable.
That will end all our illegal invader proplem.
