John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he might lose his job as House speaker over immigration reform, but he insisted he will not bring a bill to the House floor that does not have majority support of both Republicans and Democrats.

Following the Republican conference meeting on Tuesday, Boehner was asked: “Rep. Rohrabacher said that if you bring immigration reform to the floor without the support of the GOP conference you will lose your job (as speaker). Do you think that’s accurate?”

“Maybe,” Boehner said after a long pause, to laughter from reporters. …

Isn’t the Speaker elected for the entire Congress? So it’d be January 2015 before he could be replaced?

Either would be great Speakers of the House.

A far sight better than that lump of .... that currently occupies the position.

Oh you poor citizen! I’ve got a great one from here in northeastern CA. The minute you get out of either the greater LA area or the greater SanFrancisco Bay Area in CA you wouldn’t believe how conservative the rest of CA is!!! It’s amazing!!!

Find it strange when the excuse is being given that while the government knows whats going on in 300 million citizens lives but because the illegals are not citizens and in “the shadows” according to Florida’s Senator Rubio the US doesn’t know who they are or where they’re comming from so we must make them citizens...  I agree with that to a certain extent.  I'm not sure that illegals always reference that aspect of their lives in their phone calls.

FR’s ;This Wednesday June 19th a Anti Amnesty Rally will be held on the Capitol grounds. Participants are urged to visit their respective Congressional Representatives and let them know their feelings Michelle Bachmann announced over the Rusty Humphries show  If you agree with the above and the following please don’t let it lay here in FR-land. Pass it on to to your favorite talk show host and to your US legislators. PUSH THE HASTERT RULE.  I support his idea, but I'm not sure what is meant by The Hastert Rule.

ONE NATIONALITY AMNESTY SKEWS QUOTAS. AMNESTY FOR NATIONALS FROM A COUNTRY THAT HAS CLAIMS ON OUR NATIONAL TERRITORY HURTS OTHERS FROM SOUTH AMERICA, AMERICAN CITIZENS AND SKILLED LABOR FROM OTHER NATIONS  It does skew quotas.  The truth is, there is no valid claim to our territory.  We won't it in battle.  We paid for it in cash.  Mexico officially owned the land for ONLY 25 years, IF (AND THIS IS A MASSIVE IF) you accept that Spain had the right to take land from the Native Americans in the first place.  We at least fought a battle for it, and we paid compensation for it.  Spain didn't.  Mexico didn't.  I wouldn't say this hurts our other neighbors any more than it does any other nation around the world.  Mexican nationals get unfair access.  It is a preference that places the citizens of every other nation in a second tier, something tantamount to racism, or at least placing their access in abeyance to the preference of Mexican nationals.

In that May 3rd speech Obama gave before the Mexican Anthropological Museum in which he blamed America for the violence in Mexico I believe he went even futhur. There’s a inference but never referenced by name to the Gasden purchase and border settlements US made with Mexico where Obama hinted he seems to side with the Mexican claims. Would those in attendence share that view is a question that should be asked, because I believe they would,.he does.  He's a mental midget.  He tries to play the part of a statesman, and comes off looking more like Spanky laying out policy to Alphalpha, Darla and the rest of the gang.  This guy knows more about Kenyan history than he does our own.  Reading his teleprompter is probably the first time he's even thought about these matters.

SOLVING THE ‘LATINO” PROBLEM A MYTH HISPANIC IS NOT A RACE BUT A POLITICAL LINGUISTIC CONTRIVANCE ...don’t fall into the hypenated Americans trap created by the hypenated political party ...The DEMO-COMS.  While I agree with this in concept, you have to be able to reference this group in some manner.  I don't want to have to use a full paragraph every time I address the problems this segment of Hispanics cause.

The Mexicans have been getting most favorable treatment above the rest of our neighbors both north and south. They’re permitted to cross our borders and enter illegally and are allowed access to rights of citizenship (with the exception of voting which if the democrat party regains control over the House will happen) other nationals entering this country don’t get.. Worse yet the Obama government has been working hand in glove with Mexican movements such as LaRaza supporting the Mexican claims which are also supporting “Amnesty”.  Here again, I agree with this in part.  Truth is, Mexican make up abut 65 to 70% of the illegal immigrants.  The majority of the rest come from Central American Nations.  That segment causes every bit as much of a problem proprionally that the Mexican illegals (undocumented Democrats) do.

Also by allowing Mexicans to do this any quota ration for immigration from other south and central American countrys are taken up by Mexicans while that country is laying claim to a large chunk of our sovereign territory is a recipe for later serious problems which are happening now.  I expect Mexico get an increased quota.  I do not expect other nations to see their's reduced.  Their quota may be increased also under this plan.  As for any claim to our land, I won't even dignify that will acknowledgement.  There is no such valid claim, period!  That's the only way to address it.

ARE MEXICAN ILLEGALS SQUATTERS PERPETUATING THE MEXICAN CLAIMS?  Does it matter?  They don't belong here.  They must leave.

We are already seeing the result of this in certain areas claimed by the Mexicans. Their national flag (standard) gets displayed over ours. Where there is a controlling number of Mexican nationals (illegals). It’s displayed over certain institutions particularly schools accompanied by riots and disturbances. Blacks are threatend by Mexicans in certain sections of citys in those areas. We’re courting trouble by not placing a value on our sovereignty and our citizenship.  I am not aware of any Mexican flags flying over our schools or government buildings.  I am aware of some flags by another group from overseas trying this, and they were slapped down for it day one.  It didn't happen again.  This doesn't mean it's not happening.  It may.  If it is, we need to contact the local authorities can put a stop to it.  It's against the law.

MOST COINS OF THE REALM HAVE TWO FACES WHAT ABOUT HOW ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS LIVING IN MEXICO BEING TREATED?  Worse yet if a US citizen goes into Mexico never mind illegaly but legally. They’ll get 2nd class treatment. Land ownership in title is prohibited period. And there are a slew of regulations they must comply with. Which doesn’t apply to a citizen of Mexico.   There are some good points made here.  I agree for the most part.

By not insisting on reciprocity particularly on those who have entered this country illegally we’re offering no incentive for assimilation and we’re not easing the burden for our fellow citizens who for what ever reason decided to live in Mexico.  I agree with parts of this, but I am not convinced it would cause Mexican nationals here to become more assimilated.

ENOUGH OF THE ONE WORLD SOCIALISM ...BRING BACK SOVEREIGNTY AND SANITY TO OUR COUNTRY .....BRING BACK BELIEF IN GOD ...THIS GOVERNMENT OUT OUR FACE..... OUR RELIGIONS..... AND OUR BEDROOMS...
  Agreed...

Sounds good to me. I thought Michelle blinked a bit when she was running for the Presidency. I like her, but I don’t want to see her get the job and then waffle like this boob.

He seems to be a good man. He is a relative newcomer to politics. He was a veterinarian for many years in Marion County. I think he will remain a true conservative vote like Stearns and not cater to special interest groups. Cliff Stearns was a solid conservative but I think he served enough years in Congress.

In politics,
rule #1 is (figuratively) if you're gonna kill the king, make sure it's a fatal head shot.
Rule #2 is (in reality) be careful what you wish for unless you've PREVIOUSLY arranged for adequate, or improved alternatives.
Rule #3 is (always) dance with the one(s) that brung you to the danged dance!!!

Sickoflibs has been reminding us about #2. None of the "conservatives" in the House seem to want Boehner's job, as SOL puts it "Obama's b****." And to be honest, for example, what would I do as Speaker if the only choices are

1) Get the House to vote for more spending

2) "Shut down the government" and face the political consequences. Maybe, an eloquent, skillful speaker could pull this off and get the people on board (the same voters who elected Obama twice in spite of all his crimes), by speaking over the screams of the media. But I can't put together the words "skillful" and "eloquent" with the name Boehner.

And, are there replacements for Boehner who would be even worse? Rhetorical question.

I told my congressman to vote against Boehner as speaker when the session started, but, maybe because of #2, he did not.

However, if I were Speaker, I would do anything and everything to kill amnesty. The consequences of its passage are orders of magnitude beyond any budget negotiation.

Boob is a good descriptor for Boehner. These elected lifers in DC rely on statistical reports and analysts to tell them which way the wind blows. I have a doctorate in Statistics. Statistics is like a scalpel, the outcome is totally dependent on the practitioner who uses it.

Boehner is drinking the Foggy Bottom analyst juice on Latino demographics. He doesn’t understand that he should get out of the way and let real leaders emerge that can sway a large portion of the electorate. The conservative message is a great and attractive one if delivered by a good messenger like Cruz.

Don’t have the comment editing setup your using .1st comment in Times and your reply in Arial font in blue below. Except when I transfer it to email and back to posting but then FR doesn’t pick up my edit instructions. I also prefer doing email replys in using that format.

Won’t do a point by point here but will consider your comments. Except to point out NSA does not just monitor only phone, but web as well. They may not be monitoring content but receiver time and date.

I agree. I have always said, you don’t pander to Hispanics. You promote good policy and they will flock to you just like others do.

We totally blow it by talking to them like a splinter group. Then we act surprised whey they vote like a splinter group.

Bigger problem is Boehner has only had RINO geldings in all the committee leadership posts. Those with the near experience to speaker have already sold out.

And I don’t believe that none of them want the job. None of them want to appear overeager for the job while Boehner is in power.
