OAKLAND TWP. (WWJ) - Federal agents searching for the body of former Teamsters chief Jimmy Hoffa believe they are about to crack one of Americas biggest unsolved mysteries.
CBS News has confirmed a suspicious concrete slab was retrieved by investigators from the Oakland Township field where they have been digging for any sign of Hoffa. Its too soon, however, to know whether the slab is anything more than part of an old foundation for a barn.
The dig the latest in whats been nearly a 40-year search is reportedly the result of extensive FBI interviews with former mobster Tony Zerilli.
Zerilli, now 85, was convicted of organized crime as a reputed mafia captain. He was in prison on July, 30 1975 when Hoffa disappeared from a Bloomfield Township restaurant but says he was informed about Hoffas whereabouts after his release.
Zerilli, who was second in command with the Detroit mafia, said he was told by a mafia enforcer that Hoffa was abducted, killed, and brought to the Buhl Road site. The original plan, according to the mobster, was to bury Hoffa there temporarily, then later move his body near a hunting lodge in northern Michigan.
Instead of focusing their attention Up North, investigators on Monday zeroed in on the property in northern Oakland County which was once owned by Betty Speezies aunt.
Its all gone now, but there was a house, a milk house, a barn and a garage, Speezie told WWJs Kathryn Larson.
It was pretty dilapidated looking, it wasnt well cared for, said Ruth Lowe, Speezies neighbor.
Both women say theyre stunned by Hoffa once again making all the headlines. Lowe said she never thought the search would take place in her neighborhood.
I never gave it a thought, no. Its hard to believe it, that he might be there, she said.
But Speezie said she believes the hype, and for good reason her aunt sold the property to the Toccos, another mobster family.
After my aunt sold it then, she didnt know anything about the mob, I mean, they were just people who had the money, it was for sale, and she sold it to them, she said.
And theres one place in particular Speezie thinks investigators should focus on.
The barn. They could have gone right around to the back, backed right up there and it was dirt, inside the barn, it was dirt on this side, she said. Nobody would have known a thing, it would be very secretive.
The search, which is expected to last about a week, will resume Tuesday morning.....
"At your service!!"
“Next year I’m thinking about giving an anonymous tip about where Hoffa might be buried.”
Received this from an old friend today...
An old Italian man lived alone in the country. It was Spring and he wanted to dig his tomato garden, but it was very hard work for the aging man as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was currently in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If only you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me.
Love Dad
A few days later he received a letter from his son:
Dear Dad,
Not for nothing, don’t dig up that garden. That’s where I buried the BODIES.
Love Vinnie
At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived at the old man’s house and dug up the entire area. However, they didn’t find any bodies, so they apologized to the old man and left.
That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Dad,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That’s the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love Vinnie
The concrete slab refused to answer any questions and prosecutors intend to use that as an indication of guilt in court.
Interesting, The story I heard and liked best was the one where Hoffa had been taken to a house out in the country and because he was in such a rage didn’t notice his surroundings. Once he was inside the hitman popped him and the carpet he was on was merely rolled up and dumped into a Blast furnace that was making steel for cars.
Yes. The old crime underboss Anthony Zerilli, who is the tipster in this recent FBI search stated that he was told Hoffa put up a fight after he was taken to the barn with the grave already dug so he was hit in the back of the head with a shovel and then placed in the grave and covered with concrete. So even knocked out or had his bell rung, you can say he was buried alive. I personally think this Anthony Zerilli is the read deal and will bring this mystery to a closure.
They are still (tomb) RAIDERS
That’s what they suspect happened to Helen Brach.
Rumor back in the day was he got poured with the floor at the Renaissance Center in Detroit.

A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Pop,
Dont dig up that garden. Thats where Hoffa is buried.

Encased in a barn foundation.. he rated extra special treatment. We’ll see.
One rumour had him as part of a concrete pillar in the Giants stadium in joisey too.. I reckun the unions and related thuggery,, like to take care of their own,, much like modern day dhimmicRats.
Hoffa is dead. What difference, at this point, does it make where his body is?
That’s not a rhetorical question.
That would be my guess. That, or the old 'cement overshoes' treatment.
Link Only
The type of story the MSM can sink their teeth into.
“Clearly, this is an agency with too much time on their hands.”
And too much of our money.
Meanwhile, Benghazi investigation on hold. grrr
I’m sure his family would like to lay his remains to rest in a proper burial.........
