Who wrote the majority opinion and how in the world did they justify it?
How do you strike down a law requiring proof of citizenship to vote?
Who votes against that??
Scalia. Color me surprised.
The best expose on PRISM now comes from the 40 year career NSA employee, William Benny, who became the Director of Intelligence there under Geroge W. Bush. He has gone public since Snowden and detailed the full capabilities of PRISM and what the NSA was doing.
Any good news today, anywhere?
SCALIA, J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which ROBERTS,
C. J., and GINSBURG, BREYER, SOTOMAYOR, and KAGAN, JJ., joined, and
in which KENNEDY, J., joined in part. KENNEDY, J., filed an opinion concurring in part and concurring in the judgment. THOMAS, J., and ALITO,
J., filed dissenting opinions.
I thought that how states conduct elections was one of those rights reserved by the state.
In the past, SCOTUS has re-affirmed this on multiple occasions.
In the opinion it says “how” states conduct elections is a right reserved by the state but not “who” can vote in the elections.
This is the case involving Arizonas requirement that would-be voters provide proof of citizenship before being able to register to vote. Arizonas proof of citizenship requirement is preempted by the federal law requiring that states use the federal voter registration form. Justice Kennedy concurs in part and in judgment. Justices Thomas and Alito both filed dissenting opinions.
The ruling class don’t need no stinkin’ justification!
So then explain how is it constitutional to require voter ID when legally purchasing a gun, which is also my God-given constitutional right?
Proof of that which is already a requirement is a “how”. not a who.
Something really smells here.
So basically anybody can vote in our elections now.
The Republic is finished.
Stinks to high heaven..
With the integrity of the nation's form of government on the line, these guys are debating the minutia. Alice in Wonderland.
