Politicos Playbook has an excerpt from a new Ryan Lizza piece from the New Yorker that is not yet online. It contains a passage on the back-and-forth between labor and the Chamber that has a quote from a Rubio staffer that is going to raise eyebrows, to say the least:
There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, cant cut it. There shouldnt be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just cant get it, cant do it, dont want to do it. And so you cant obviously discuss that publicly.

More and more, we are learning that the elites want those with no significant role to play in the New World Order to shut up, die, and get out of the way.
I fear the Rubio aide was not referring to, say, black welfare recipients, but to older white male workers who can neither be retrained nor re-educated.
Jeb Bush states categorically that illegal aliens start more businesses than their American citizens and are more fertile than American citizens!
Now, I find that Rubio wants illegal aliens to gain citizenship because American citizens just "can't cut it!"
What's a conservative American to believe Rubio or his own lying eyes?
Rubio and his henchman are doing the hard work for illegal Mexican invaders.
They and they alone got and continue to get paid to NOT teach this nation's children.
Dumbed down, you bet.
I seem to recall not too many years ago when Newt spoke of graduating high schoolers not being able to read their diplomas and nothing has changed!
I think most older workers would gladly try new things, within their capabilities if employers were willing to hire them, even for fairly basic jobs.
Rubio’s true colors are coming out.
He thinks whites and blacks are lazy, stupid and irresponsible whereas latinos are hard-working and industrious.
Combine Rubio’s true colors with Jeb Bush’s recent statements and a picture emerges of selfish Latino self-importance and delusion.
This is part of the continuing culture war.
> “This nation has an underclass of uneducated, largely illiterate, and lazy people living off the government dole.”
As opposed to the nation to the south that has 80% of its population in unbelievable poverty?
And a lot of your quoted “uneducated, illiterate, lazy people living off the government dole” are indeed illegal aliens from the south.
his solution is to replace those US citizens with illegal foreign invaders who could not cut it in Mexico
Gov’t workers can’t cut it: IRS, EPA, HHS, DOJ, DOE and the Senate to name a few ...
Denigrate citizens... how very Obama of him...
Just keep digging deeper, Marco.
The amnesty supporters all act as though every single illegal is a super hero. We are told they are all honest, hard working people with great family values. No mention of illegals that are here simply to be criminals of every variety. No mention that some of them are lazy, dishonest, and have no values of any kind.
What so many refuse to see is even the best of the illegals, those that are hard working decent people are still here illegally and should not be here. Illegals are taking jobs that should go to citizens and they are keeping wages low and encouraging unsafe or otherwise bad working conditions. Illegals take jobs at a pay rate that even they cannot live on, especially if they have a wife or children. That means they have to depend on social services to survive.
So that would be stupid, infirm, and lazy.
I'll take door #3. Put them in the wilderness area from which it is impossible to escape. Tell them, "You don't work, you don't eat. You don't eat, you die. We'll see you in a year."
Rubio is 100% wrong to suggest, let alone try to force on us, a massive influx of illegal labor because some employers like to pay them squat and have government benefits make up the difference.
We have enough garbage men to clean our streets because we pay them a market rate, and our agriculture industry would modernize and be just fine if they did the same.
Sure, we should reform our welfare system, but that’s no excuse for importing millions of illegals.
We don’t need any immigrants to do “jobs Americans won’t do” until the real unemployment in this country is 4% or below, not the nearly 20% that it is.
Send them all back home and then if in 20 years we need new legal immigrants, bring in only the highly skilled ones.
They also spawn next generations that are a majority high school dropout, high crime, broken family population. Through chain migration, they also bring in millions more of the same.
60% of agriculture field work is currently done by US citizens. You’ve bought the hype.
