WASHINGTON (AP) An Internal Revenue Service supervisor in Washington says she was personally involved in scrutinizing some of the earliest applications from tea party groups seeking tax-exempt status, including some requests that languished for more than a year without action.
Holly Paz, who until recently was a top deputy in the division that handles applications for tax-exempt status, told congressional investigators she reviewed 20 to 30 applications. Her assertion contradicts initial claims by the agency that a small group of agents working in an office in Cincinnati were solely responsible for mishandling the applications.
Paz, however, provided no evidence that senior IRS officials ordered agents to target conservative groups or that anyone in the Obama administration outside the IRS was involved.
Instead, Paz described an agency in which IRS supervisors in Washington worked closely with agents in the field but didn't fully understand what those agents were doing. Paz said agents in Cincinnati openly talked about handling "tea party" cases, but she thought the term was merely shorthand for all applications from groups that were politically active conservative and liberal.
Paz said dozens of tea party applications sat untouched for more than a year while field agents waited for guidance from Washington on how to handle them. At the time, she said, Washington officials thought the agents in Cincinnati were processing the cases.

This came from the WH. By mouth. Nothing in writing. That’s how these peeps roll.
Yeah, Trey is one of the good guys. I hope he can find a way to bring down the Dems.
Hmmmm...that's not what the drones in question are saying.
What a bad liar this woman is...
Ya but the question begging to be answered is, how many organizations containing the words "fair" "ACORN" "Tides" "Progress" "Union" were held for extra scrutiny?
these people hang around together. They go to the same parties, they attend the same democrat fundraisers, they go to the same stores, they eat at the same restaurants and they take their kids to the same private schools. To think that this was not at least suggested by the people connected to white house is naive.
Nothing will happen with this. There will be a few early retirements, lateral moves and the occasional promotion to another agency.
Don’t expect anyone to actually be punished.
They have too many files on too many people for that to happen.
LOL!
How about Who’s telling the FBI, ATF, OSHA, etc.????
and a guy in the audience was heard to whisper....that's bad....but if she ever figures out that's not a trombone she blows every nite and is not really a part of the Washington Philharmonic it will break her little heart
It is just simply amazing as to how far these folks will go to keep from telling the truth. I wonder who was in the meeting that was convened to write this response and how many rewrites were necessary. The same number as the Benghazi presser lie?
I think that Paz has been purged, who knows where she will end up. Probably as another presidential advisor with presidential privilege against testifying.

This function, exempting some from taxes, is contrary to their very mission and nature.
They may well be the ONLY agency of government doing what it was designed to do!
Duh, there are literally hundreds of thousands of government employees who are simply apolitical, don’t care about it, have nothing to do with it, and whose eyes skip right over political issues. So, it is possible. They are like the 90 million American adults who never even vote!
The SES and appointee levels do that stuff ~ the staffers are not SES types. Nor will they ever be. A scandal in your subagency ruins your career ~
Waiting for guidance? The election is Nov4th,don’t do anything until Nov.5th
