Republicans are "in a demographic death spiral" and will fail in their effort to win the presidency if the party blocks an immigration overhaul, a leading GOP senator said Sunday.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican who helped write a bipartisan immigration bill under debate in the Senate, said conservatives who are trying to block the measure will doom the party and all but guarantee a Democrat will remain in the White House after 2016's election.
A Democrat also involved in developing the proposal, Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, went a step further and predicted "there'll never be a road to the White House for the Republican Party" if immigration overhaul fails to pass.

The REPUBLICANS ARE RESPONSIBLE for the 1986 AMNESTY!
Where did that get us? Why aren’t all the 1986 Amnesty Recipients and their grown children voting REPUBLICAN?
Mr. Graham You are INSANE! and you think we are STUPID!
Reminds me of late West Roman Empire when they let barbarians settle within the empire and needed them to plug the gaps in their military manpower. Problem is people who wanted to be emperor but lacked the support of the Roman majority or generals did not hesitate to bolster their minority power with the barbarians to overwhelm the Roman majority in power. It came at a price, the barbarians wanted more territory for themselves and their tribe. In the end the barbarians figured the game out and became kingmaker in Roman civil wars and game politics. Rome lost and the barbarians won. Dems. GOP and rest of Americans will learn the hard way when Hispanics learn they are the kingmakers in US politics. They will enrich their own communities at the expense of the rest of the US. Blacks will be the first victims of the power struggle. Side show will be the Jews being pummeled by the growing US Arab/Muslim population in the Dem party. 21st Century will be an interesting American century.
Don’t even bother to ask God for help. The last nation that embraced Sodony did not get any.
The GOP leadership has supported every power grab the DemocRATs have been pushing.
Senator Linda Graham- if amnesty is passed with GOP help you wont get my vote for POTUS in 2016
Used to be GOP base

Slow path to progress for U.S. immigrants: 43% on welfare after 20 years
The study, which covers all immigrants, legal and illegal, and their U.S.-born children younger than 18, found that immigrants tend to make economic progress by most measures the longer they live in the U.S. but lag well behind native-born Americans on factors such as poverty, health insurance coverage and homeownership.
The study, based on 2010 and 2011 census data, found that 43 percent of immigrants who have been in the U.S. at least 20 years were using welfare benefits, a rate that is nearly twice as high as native-born Americans and nearly 50 percent higher than recent immigrants.

so more amnesty from republicans helps our country how again?
So Democrat/ethnic hustler Menendez is trying to help the Republican party win future presidential races with this advice?
Lindsey is just a hopeless, self-deluded nitwit on this issue.
Ahh, yes, hunting the elusive Obama fence sitter who agrees with the GOP on every matter except for amnesty for illegal aliens. They are just crying out for the GOP to finally approve such legislation so that they can come back to the GOP. You can see their numbers quite clearly in the exit polling data from 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. They are the deciding factor...
While Lindsey Don Quixote Graham is tilting against windmills, the rest of us know quite clearly that the only thing yet another amnesty bill brings is people LEAVING the GOP, not gathering a single voter. It is the myth of the big tent - you make the tent bigger, you bring the party even more liberal, and in will come the stream of ‘independent’ voters who will utterly punish the Democrats come the next election.
Instead, the result is two liberals running against each other, one of whom many GOP voters can’t even stomach enough to cast a vote for, and the other naturally pointing out how sad it is that the other guy isn’t quite enlightened enough.
Senator Graham, all the GOP has to do to win a massive victory in the House and the Senate is simply run on Obama’s record. Massive ‘health care’ plan that is going to make health care much much worse, NSA listening in on phone calls (and unapologetic about it...), IRS targeting people based upon political or religious beliefs, letting an embassy be overrun, seizing reporter phone records without cause, and every single thing: ‘Where was Obama when this was going on? Who knows, he sure doesn’t. Name the people who have been fired for these scandals... None. So this November, it is time to send a clear message: We’re going to clean up Washington DC, reign in Obama’s out of control government, and put this country back on track.’
Senator Graham, what is the counter to this campaign? ‘They’re just trying to steal your right to kill babies! They are racists who want illegals to suffer!’ Yeah, who does this response ring true to? Die hard liberals, votes we will NEVER have. And who does it turn off? The real target, ‘independent’ voters.
Senator Graham, amnesty will take the cakewalk midterms in 2014 and turn it into an utter bloodbath for the GOP.
If we don’t give amnesty to 20 million illegals and allow them to sponsor millions more of their relatives thru chain migration, we will die as a political party.
“Interesting”... thats one way to phrase it.
Graham needs to be asked......like in California? I don’t believe they are this stupid, it is a plan.
If Graham is for it, I’m automatically against it, I don’t even need to know what it is.
FULG!
Worked out well in California didn’t it?
No, America is in a demographic death spiral.
All of it caused by illegal immigration and some unwise legal immigration.
Indeed. ComDem Insanity!
I tend to agree with this; but with the (very important!) caveat that an immigration bill must be accompanied by a provision that requires strict border control first.
Those who claim that strict border enforcement should not be elevated to such a level are entirely unserious about the matter, in my opinion; these people want a bill that would legalize the millions who are currently here illegally, without any reciprocal border enforcement for the future.
Fine. Then Graham needs to write a serious bill and not this crap sandwich of special interest pork. That he doesn’t do that just shows he is FOS. He plainly wants amnesty and slaves for Big Business with utter disregard to the assault this bill is on low and middle income American Citizens.
There is a 3rd way in all this mess but the beltway GOP has shown ZERO interest in representing the American people on this issue. Dems are trolling for votes and the GOP is doing the bidding of big business. Main Street has no representatives in DC.
I’m pretty sure illegal aliens already know conservatives despise the amnesty plan, so unless the GOPe kicks us out of the party, why in the world would an amnestied alien vote Republican? They also already know the Democrats LOVE amnesty and are willing to wealth redistribute some $$$$ to the illegals. Again, why wouldn’t an illegal alien vote for the party that more closely represents what they want for a party the grudgingly voted for the amnesty???
BTW, President Bush was about as pro-Hispanic as one can be, but even he didn’t get a majority of the Hispanic vote. Get a clue, Senator Graham! You’re delusional—absolutely stark raving mad actually—if you think you’re going to see a majority of Hispanics vote Republican.
Senator Graham, we lose like 45% to 55% of the Hispanic vote, and you can’t make that up on volume!!!
We should react in kind.
