George Orwell was right. He was just 30 years early.
In its April cover story, Wired has an exclusive report on the NSA's Utah Data Center, which is a must read for anyone who believes any privacy is still a possibility in the United States: [mod note, Wired content is not allowed on FR]
Amen. And amen.
"...and no man comes to God the Father but through Him."
Fixed it!
public key encryption? This article has so much BS in it it's hard to know what the useful facts are. But there is a simple fact about diffuse data like most of what is described which is that is can't realistically be used to find or track terrorists. In theory they would have all of the phone calls and internet activity recorded for someone like Tamerlan and just pick out some salient facts about nefarious people he communicated with and stuff that he looked up.
The problem is, that doesn't work. Even when the Russians told them to scrutinize the guy and the FBI investigated (and were well justified to record everything and keep a file) they did not. Instead we collect googlebytes of utterly useless data and use 60 MW of electricity to decrypt it, all for nothing.
The highest data rate for fiber according to wikipedia is 1.5 petabytes/sec The highest data rate from satellite, also according to wikipedia, is 8 gigabytes/sec about 100,000 times slower. If anything, that gap will increase with time.
pinging jack unless they have already taken you to the re-education camp.
I read responses to Thiessans babble in the Washington Post and it must be greater than 90% not buying the security over freedom line.
I know, I know, it’s been said often, but it bares repeating:
If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.
This all goes back to Genesis, when satan seduced mankind into the desire to ‘be like God’. Man, in his sinful state (without Christ), is a power hungry wretch capable of any limitless amount of evil. The desire to control others and know every detail of other’s lives as these programs do is proof of that. However, one day, according to Revelation 19, there will be an earth-shattering reckoning coming to satan and his minion followers. All scripture will be fulfilled according to the LORD’s will and plan.
This is why I have no fear of the enemy. My confidence is in Jesus Christ, and Him alone.
With Mormons overrepresented in the FBI, CIA, and NSA it’s surprising Romney didn’t have much of a sympathetic intelligence operation helping him behind the scenes. Maybe they were too busy spying on people’s sex lives.
“This is why I have no fear of the enemy. My confidence is in Jesus Christ, and Him alone.”
Spoken well, as have many other Christians here. On this Father’s Day, we remember that our Father is the agent of deliverance.
Amen brother, and may God watch us and bless us as we strive to be men after Jesus. These days, it’s important for real men to stand tall.
Cooperation before competition,
Sacrifice before comfort
character before conformity
the list goes on.
Does anybody really think this new data center will actually be where the data is kept?
>>There were only 3% of the people behind what happened then...I believe we have more now...it is time...
In those days, 3% was enough. But that was when most of the enemy’s forces were not on this continent and the ones that were here were dispersed.
Today, we have a well-armed enemy patrolling our neighborhoods who will support those who sign their paychecks and back their power over the citizenry. The enemy also controls a standing army that is well-stocked with people who were trained from birth to resent and even hate the majority of Americans. And, thanks to the War on “Terror”, it is experienced in urban and counter-insurgency warfare.
Today’s enemy possesses a means of spying on our communications, and the means to cut you off from most of your wealth with the click of a mouse. A few clicks later and you can suddenly have a collection of kiddie porn uploaded to your computer, or your g-mail account, or your work email account and then an hour later a team of ninja cops can bust down your door to arrest you for it.
Today’s enemy also has an irregular militia in the form of those who live on the dole. Those people hate you and me and will do anything their master Obama tells them to do.
Comparing today and 1775 and claiming that 3% is enough is foolish at best.
I doubt any President will be able to undo this Borg. They may be able to severely limit the size and scope of the Homeland Security and the TSA, but they will never be able to undo the electronic surveillance, because it will soon be so powerful they would never shut it down.
Bears repeating.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
From the KJV.
>>Back then, Americans were patriotic Americans unlike today.
Back then, there were the Smithies of various sorts who could produce the implements required for survival in that era.
Today? The McSheeple think eggs are laid in cartons.
Might as well send ‘em back to the stone age, or beyond.
I heard the Thin Thread guys I think on Hannity yesterday or the day before. Interesting story.
“Comparing today and 1775 and claiming that 3% is enough is foolish at best.”
I did not, nor am I suggesting that 3% today is enough. But we have many armed patriots who will stand and face the enemy. We also have a military that is not yet in lock-step with Obozo. We have LEO’s, especially Sheriff’s Depts that are more on our side than on Obozo’s. Many of the armed patriots have military experience, including in war zones. To say that we can resist, revolt, overcome the enemy is not foolishness. And Obo, Jarrett et al know that is true...hence the moves to know who we are and to consficate our guns. Molon Labe.
Also, about your references to the enemy’s army...they will have to use the blue beret crowd, and they will have long supply lines. Let ‘em come.
