More details of a massacre in Homs late last month have emerged following the global outcry of a massacre in Deir el-Zour yesterday.
The massacre, carried out by Free Syrian Army militants reportedly targeted men, women and children in the Christian village of al-Duwayr/Douar close to the city of Homs and the border with Lebanon. The incident received little media attention, having occurred at the same time as thousands of Syrian troops converged on the insurgent-occupied town of al-Qusayr.
According to sources, around 350 heavily armed militants entered the village, broke into homes and assembled residents in the main square of the village where they were executed. The final death toll is not known but photos show severe damage to property in the village.
Syrian army sources said that they reached the village after the massacre, resulting in clashes with militants. Sources also reported that Turkish and Chechen extremists were among the perpetrators. Chechen militants are known to have kidnapped two Christian bishops in Aleppo earlier this year. The following images show al-Duwayr/Douar village after the massacre:
Conditions for ethnic and religious minorities have been made increasingly worse as Free Syrian Army affiliated organisations including Jabhat al-Nusra increase ethnic and sectarian cleansing across Syria. Kidnappings, executions and assassinations are common.
Late last month, around the time of the massacre in Homs, a fifteen year old girl was kidnapped by militants in Damascus, who demanded $100,000 for her release. Miryam Jbeil, a niece Damascus-based Catholic priest Nader Jbeil, was released after a number of days in captivity.
In the aftermath of the Syrian army assault on al-Qusayr, the church was discovered to have been desecrated by Free Syrian Army militants.... [more photos here]

Maybe we should send John McCain over to speak with the dead christians for their opinion on which arms to give to their murderers.
And you wonder why Hussein Obummer wanted to aid al Qaeda in Syria. Don’t forget Hagel, McCainer and Linda Graham are also responsible for these atrocities against innocent Christian civilians in Syria.

One of the most dispiriting things about our involvement in Iraq was our total, I mean total indifference to the fate of the ancient Christian community in that country. That is why the pope was against the invasion, because he knew that the Muslims were primed for a war against Christians in the Middle East. Bush could have given Christians the protection of the US forces, could have but did nothing. Maybe he figured he couldn’t, not long term, that he had opened pandora’s box.
So a religion based on murder, rape and plunder is murdering, raping and plundering? At least Obama’s consistent, he supports the destruction of liberty at every turn.
I never thought I’d ever find myself rooting for Bashir Assad of Syria and Sovietist Vladimir Putin.
Did you know Assad is an opthamologist? Maybe he can help America’s myopia.
Or perhaps Bush 2 is just as much an employee of our Saudi friends as Obama. Why did we think the Bush’s were conservative or Christian?
Hawkish US lawmakers welcomed the administration's change in position, but Senator John McCain said the president needed to go further.
"We need heavy weaponry. We need the kind that can counter tanks, and we need surface-to-air missiles," he said.

Asad may be a lot of things, but he was very indifferent to Israel and the Syrian Christians. In the Muslim world it is the best we can hope for.

I am rooting for Russia to kick Al quedas ass and the CIA supply line. God will have to defend the Christian children against the American Muslim terrorist murder machine using whatever is available to protect the Christians.
The good news is that those murdered Christians are in heaven with Jesus, their Lord, this morning.

Agreed, but at least he’s allowing the moral compass of the Russian Orthodox Church to prevail.
The only thing I find unsettling about that is the anti-semitism in that body. I’m praying that the challenge they face from their Moslem population will mitigate that, but I’m not all that hopeful.
