Former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) argued Wednesday that the United States should pass immigration reform because the U.S. economy needs the labor of young immigrants, and immigrants are more fertile.
Immigrants create far more businesses than native-born Americans, Bush said at the Faith and Freedom Coalitions Road to the Majority conference. Immigrants are more fertile, and they love families, and they have more intact families, and they bring a younger population. Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.
Bush said immigrants are an advantage that the United States has over China, Europe and Japan, which dont have the same immigrant tradition and are struggling to find young laborers.
If we dont do it, we will be in decline, because the productivity of this country is dependent upon young people that are equipped to be able to work hard, Bush said.
Bush, whose wife is a Mexican-born immigrant, has long been an advocate for comprehensive immigration reform.

Word!
That it is!
Where did I give my opinion of him? You mentioned mad spending and I gave you a glimpse of mad spending and it wasn't from the Bush. And that seems not to have gone down well as you swung over talking about the 'rats. I never voted for a 'rat either - but that's nothing to do about mad spending nor telling you what to do.
Happy Birthday!
I think JR should zot you and then bring you right back - to make it a memorable b’day. :)
Are you OK? Let us know.
Old?...heck no!! 60? Just a kid! Seriously tho, Happy B-Day and many more to come Windy!!
Maybe they can get rid of the citizenship test and use a fertility test instead.
High sperm/ova count to the front of the line!

If those generations continue inbreeding it ain't going to help.
Happy Birthday Windflier!! You are one of the most thoughtful and insightful posters in Freeperland. Enjoy the day (now night)
Just tuned in, cannot read all 230 comments. So this may have come up prior....but the Muslims, having more than one wife, or not, are procreating at a much, much higher and faster pace than Christians and will soon out number westerners who are tending to procreate at an almost static rate. This might be what Jeb Bush was talking about. WE need more next generation...
We each need more wives! That would surely fix the problem!
Heh....I love having that flow reversed on me. I call forty-somethings "kids" all the time :-)
Yeah, I'm still kickin' liberal butt, and plan to be, until I'm called home :-)
Thanks, Nobama. I've had a really enjoyable day. Posting a little slower tonight because of the Glen Fiddich :-)
Thank you so much. I'm humbled by the accolade (truly).
It's just after 10:00 PM here, and I'm still having a blast. Mommy and the kids made the day so very special for me. Just the family, a few modest gifts, a cake, cards, and the annual bottle of Glen Fiddich!
A man couldn't ask for more :-)
Their refusal to use birth control could stem from the fact that the majority of Latin America is Catholic.
I understand now why people start drinkin’ and never stop.
Sweet Jesus...Is Jeb taking crazy bills, and drinking stupid juice?
Then I suggest we work to do our part. I have 5 kids, of which 3 are white and 2 are mixed race. I personally don’t understand why people keep track of race statistics. Certainly it should be unconstitutional for the government to do that.
The future belongs to those who show up.
Or as Woody Allen said, 90% of life is showing up.
What Jeb doesn't understand is if we let every person in Mexico live here - and empty out South America - we cease being the country we ARE and become a third world Hispanic country.
Is that what Jeb wants?
People bring their cultures with them. Yes, Hispanics are hard working but they create poor countries with kids selling trinkets on the streets. That's not what we want... it's not our way. And Hispanic cultures tend to product thuggy dictators, corruptions, and many street gangs. That's just NOT America as we've known it. It's not the America we want to live in... or bring children into..
Let's create a way for the people who live here - all of us from everywhere - to have a country nice enough that we want to bring children into it. OUR CHILDREN. Not importing kids...
