How to Stop the ‘Immigration’ Bill via States
Self | 13 Jun 13 | Me

Posted on 06/13/2013 1:51:09 PM PDT by OneWingedShark

Now is our chance to change the political field of battle; the recent revelations regarding the IRS's political targeting and the NSA's domestic spying have engendered a healthy distrust of the now feral Federal Government. - We have the opportunity not only to stop this thing dead in its tracks, but make support for it legally actionable at the federal and State level.

Here's how:
The governors of the Several States have a lot of unused power, commonly set forth in their respective state's constitution is the power to declare a state of invasion. If two or more States were to declare such a state (with illegal immigrants being the invading force) then support for an amnesty (or even relaxed/unenforced immigration) is giving legal aid and comfort to the enemies of the Several States.

This is important because the Constitution clearly defines Treason as follows: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort” — and Treason is one of the things that the privilege from arrest given congressmen in Art I, Sec 6 does not cover.

Indeed, after declaring such a state of invasion the Constitution requires the federal government to provide help to the states in Art 4, Sec 4, and to withhold help would be treason. Furthermore, a Supreme Court ruling stating the actions of the Governors actions as legitimate would be, again, treason.

Now is the time to make the Federal Government choke on its own actions. Let us force them into a political no-win scenario while they think they have us between a wall and a sword.

This is something that I read some time ago. I didn’t just pull it out of my ass.

Frankly, I’m glad Rick Perry opposes the immigration bills. I certainly didn’t intend to spread a falsehood, if that’s what you’re thinking.

In addition to calling your congressman, call your governor, too.
Governors have the power to turn the political landscape on its head, if they but have the stones to declare a state of invasion on part of the illegal immigrants.

In fact, don't let the phone-call reception gatekeepers stop you — I sent this plan (with more citations) via registered mail w/ confirmation to Governor Martinez and it cost me: $15.06
I'd rather not have to spend upwards of $700 mailing the rest of the continental States's governors (of course I would need to research their particular State's Constitution as well), so some help would be appreciated… but this is important, and we can start reigning in the Federal Beast. Moreover, we can do it in a manner that makes their natural inclinations turn them into the aggressors, and the bad guys.

Once a state of invasion is declared it leaves the Federal government with three options:
  1. Give such aid as required by Art 4, Sec 4.
This would be quite politically embarrassing for the portion of the government which is unapologetically open-border, and considering that they make up a not-insignificant portion yields this to be a very unlikely scenario.
  2. Withhold aid and attempt to remain neutral.
This is very likely the policy which will be chosen. It would not be embarrassing the open-border crowd, and it would not be overtly siding with foreign nationals against Citizens, yet it would not be very kind to them either, as it would prove that the Federal government has no intention of upholding its obligations; this will add much support to the 10TH Amendment/State’s-Rights movements such as the Firearm Freedom Acts proposed by several States which seek to repudiate the regulations laid upon the States by the Federal government via the Commerce Clause.
  3. Act against the State
This is the most interesting alternative as any action against the State, whether it be executive, legislative, or judicial would be giving aid and comfort to the enemies of one of the Several States: that is it would be Treason, and very easily provable so. Not even the Supreme Court could resist: for if they did then they would obviously be attempting to act in a manner both superior to and contrary to the Constitution [9th and 10th Amendments] and they are not given the power to amend the Constitution.

Don’t waste your money on Maryland.

Our Governor is a piece of taxing liberal slime.

We have drivers license for illegals ,Same sex marriage, Casa De Maryland, in State tuition for illegals and taxes up to our ears.

People in Utah including Orin Hatch seem to think this law is peachy.

Dear God!

Excellent, practical advice!

Thank you; we each can make a difference if we choose to and then act on that choice.

The worst part about this, is that when you think about it even the governors of the border states don’t really care. If they wanted to stop the flow of illegals, they could in a minute and it probably wouldn’t take all the much money, if any.

All they’d have to do is, when their National Guard units do their 2 week drills, set them up with some Border Patrol personnel and have them stand watch. May not be 100%, but it’ll definitely slow the invasion. And after a while, the illegals will find someplace to go.

Seems to me like a pretty simple solution to what I think is a really a pretty simple problem, as far as I’m concerned.

Update #2:
I just got back from the post office; it cost $167* and some change to send those letters (all the Governors except HI, NY, and NM).
I'll let you know when/if I get any replies… if the letters aren't considered sedition or some other bullshit charge and they try'n arrest me.

* I went Certified, not Registered.

(all the Governors except HI, NY, and NM).

Why were those three excluded?

NM — Because that is my governor, the first one I mailed. [The $25 Registered letter.]
HI — Because Abercrombie is likely knee-deep in at least people in-the-know about Obama's birth status.
NY — Because Cumo.

Though, to be honest, I am considering mailing Cumo as well&kellip; I'll have to do a big rewrite and frame it in terms of here's how to obliterate the Republican party and clean out any solid opposition you might have in the Democrat party. But if I do send it, I'll send it with a if running with me, a political unknown, as your VP would be too disadvantageous then nominate me for the Supreme Court when you win.

I mean the VP is President of the Senate, which I am surprised has fallen into such a disregarded position; as for USSC… well, I think a somewhat unsuccessful computer programmer [me] could do a better job.
