Six months since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., parents of some of the youngest victims plan to visit Capitol Hill again this week to meet with lawmakers about crafting a bill to impose stricter gun laws.
Gun-control groups are scheduling the parents to attend another round of meetings and other public events — including a reading of the names of people killed by guns since the Newtown shooting — in a push to restart debate on the issue sometime in the coming months.
But try as they might, prospects for a new gun-control bill appear to be no better than in April, when the Senate swiftly defeated a bipartisan gun-control bill and delivered an embarrassing defeat to President Obama. Plus, with the Senate already scheduled to spend most of June debating a bipartisan immigration overhaul bill, there’s little room for discussion of other issues.
On Monday, Vice President Biden — normally ebullient when discussing the administration’s priorities — seemed less than certain that gun-control will return to the fore in the Senate...

I can’t believe the parents of the dead children are pimping their loss for a bill that would do NOTHING to prevent what happened at Sandy Hook!
It seems to me that the country is “getting it” with regard to gun control. Unless there’s some massive event that changes everything, I think it’ll be another generation before significant gun control can be passed at the federal level.
We could make murder double, extra illegal.

Thousands of gun laws on the books today and they think a few more are going to stop the criminal element? Beck’s right - it’s all about control, not about gun control.
Gun Control is so YESTERDAY. The Dems have bigger targets now with Amnesty.
Once they get Amnesty, they get a permanent majority, and, at that point, they can go back to taking away guns, and won’t even have to bother with the baby steps.

What they are really saying is that they are disappointed that another ‘horrific’ & exploitable massacre in a ‘gun free zone’ hasn’t taken place they can use to further destroy freedom.

agreed. However I’d like to add that NOW is the time for we the people to make it clear that our Constitutionally protected, God given rights are not negotiable. Whether it is the 2nd amendment or the 4th, the defeat must be so blistering that they simply won’t try it again for another generation or so.

Here’s the deal. You parents who saw your kids slaughtered is the result of trusting the safety of your children to a government that doesn’t give a shit.
Your children died because you, as parents, did not protect your most valuable possession - your children. Your kids are dead because of you.

Sounds like suicide, and it is, but not to this generation of politicians. They figure that they’ll be gone by the time the full effects hit.
But, in the meantime, they are facing a VERY NASTY bunch of RINO business owners that are sick of having to hire Illegals, since today’s (legal) high school kids are lucky to get up out of bed on the right day of the week, much less the right time.
Enter the Illegals, who show up for work, don’t complain, and usually do a really good job (and I know, many of them built the house that I’m in). The RINOs risk losing their workers or even going to jail due to being forced to hire Illegals, and they are tired of it.
So they make the sympathy case for the Illegals, and also the stick - no more money for you (Mr. Republican) if you don’t legalize them. And that is all that is needed for many. Of course with Rubio, it becomes an “ethnic thing” as he has to show his loyalty to what he considers to be his own kind. No different than Conlin Bowel, endorsing Obama, twice, for president.
