Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is under fire for statements he made before Congress that suggested he had no knowledge about federal government programs that collected data on millions of Americans phone calls and Internet activities.
In March, Clapper said at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing that he was not aware that the National Security Agency was involved in such large-scale efforts.
The questioning of Clappers statements follow blockbuster news last week that the federal government has since 9/11 been logging millions, perhaps billions, of calls and Internet activities and as the NSAs top official goes before the same Senate committee for a closed-door briefing on the issue.
"Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans?" Oregon Republican Sen. Ron Wyden asked Clapper at the March 12 hearing.
"No, sir," Clapper responded.
"It does not?" Wyden pressed.

The SGT Shultz of National Intelligence.
And they are worthless, spineless, but very self-serving.
...he didn’t know anything about London bombing either....
No of course he doesn’t know. No one in the administration knows anything til they read it in the paper.

You’ve got the director of the NSA lying to Congress just three months ago and you want Snowden to go through proper channels to challenge this????

Claptrap Clapper caught in a big lie.
But But ,I thought Senate Intelligence Committee were briefed about the NSA ,well some of them ,the ones Obama could trust
Senility? too many years with multiple cellphones held to his ears simultaneously?
The next time someone accuses Snowden of treason, play this lip for them. I doubt Snowden and I would agree on a lot but I’m glad he exposed Clapper and his boss for the liars they are.
Years ago I flew on the SAC Looking Glass with Clapper as the Airborne Emergency Action Officer when he was chief of SAC Intel. He was one of the better generals to have on board and seemed pretty sharp each time he was on board. I guess senility has set in and/or he’s been bought off. He’d have been better off sliding into fulltime retirement and obscurity.
This guy would fit right in at the IRS.
Amazing....You just lie and walk away..
He outdid William Casey and Colby fwiw.. Clapper may be brain-dead but he’s still upright.
